As they said above, Vegeta's miscoloration is a mistake which shouldn't be corrected if you're trying to color-correct the footage so it looks like it had originally been.
Kai is a different thing.

Madman in Australia and Manga UK both sub-licensed those materials directly from FUNimation. All they did was do a PAL->NTSC conversion where appropriate. Nothing about that affects any color on any scene or the DVNR performed to the footage.
I found in the Australian Madman version the first few episodes had the wrong episode title screen at the start of the show and graphical error at one point that not caused by the player. How would you explain that?

One thing I was thinking earlier today was about Trunks Vs. Mecha Freeza -- Will Kenji Yamamoto's BPU be in there? Most likely but if not then they might use a Kai audio clip.

I really hope they don't because that's one of the best parts of the series which Kai ruined. It's not to say Kai was all bad, I enjoyed every bit from Saiyan arc to Freeza's arc.

I'm sure Kenji Yamamoto's BPU will still be included since it's still on the orange bricks.

This is an 80s/90s animated all-ages show that was popular amongst kids. It's not some potent super weapon that might fall into the wrong hands that we have to protect from evil.

Minor authoring errors like that still have nothing to do with the overall, high-level processes being used to create the underlying footage on the sets.

They ported Super Butoden 2 to 3DS with his music kept intact recently, so I guess they decided to put their blinders on things from decades ago.

I just want to know something. Has Funimation posted a "real trailer" for this Blu-Ray season one set. Or was the one that we did see the real one? You the one that was taken down for some reason. Another thing, why are they always saying pan and scan for this set? I know what it is, but are they trying to say it wont suck like the orange set? I just don't want this to be like the orange set again. :(

The trailer is back up, and I believe its' the same one.
A YouTube channel with no AMVs on it? I know, it's hard to believe.

Pretty much, all though it doesn't look like there's any evidence of selective cropping within the trailer.

Well, uh, maybe this won't have that disappearing line issue.

"Over saturation is easy. Just drag the slider to the right and there you are: instant interest. And certainly, the majority of the public likes saturated color images. In fact, if you want to quickly create a popular image, simply over saturate the colors and increase the contrast. While you may not achieve a sophisticated image, you will achieve an image that will please a less demanding audience." - Alain Briot

Thats what I thought. But maybe it won't be as bad. Maybe.

I hated that so much. Also the fact that they cut the heads off ect in that set.

In 16:9 AR you have to sacrifice something it's either the top or the bottom to be able to focus in the middle picture, which is the most important.

The screens despite being from a YouTube compressed video still look really good and the cropping this time around won't bother me, nor did they on the Japanese Kai broadcast episodes. As long as they're done properly that's all that matters to me.

As ya'll can see people are happy (giving it 5 stars) with the Orange Bricks so that'll always remain as the main edition for DBZ in US. Of course I'd never buy them nor give five stars due to its atrocities.

Lastly, if the purists truly wanted DBZ on Blu-ray in 4:3 AR they would have supported the hell out of the Level sets but they didn't, although there's still the other fact of the cost being high so it's not to blame it all on the purists not supporting it.

As the Japanese TV broadcast of Kai showed us, and what FUNimation appears to be promising this time around, is contrary to what you're saying: if you actually pay attention when doing the transfer, you can slide certain things up and down to alleviate heads being cut off if more of the action is near the top of the frame, for example.
dbboxkaifan wrote:Lastly, if the purists truly wanted DBZ on Blu-ray in 4:3 AR they would have supported the hell out of the Level sets but they didn't
OK, except that they literally were announced (September 2011) two months after the completion of the Dragon Box sets (July 2011). I'm insane and purchase everything, but I don't expect even the most die-hard of die-hard fans to be that insane on the double/triple/quadruple dipping.

For the record, this will be the seventh time I purchase Raditz from FUNimation (Arrival VHS, Arrival DVD, Ultimate Uncut Vol. 1, Orange Brick, Kai Blu-ray Vol. 1, Level 1.1, new Blu-ray set).

You're blaming the victim, here. And that's insane.

True, I aslo took look at amazon for the orange sets at Aspect Ratio: 1.77:1. But the Blu-Ray season one set (wich I want) 1.33:1. I heard that when Kai was on tv in Japan it looked great, I might be wrong. But maybe this time around it will be better than the orange sets.

Also did I read it right, were Funimation said that they don't know if it will be in 16.9 or 4.3?

But I will be getting the Blu-Ray season sets. I will have the VHS box sets, the old dvds, the orange sets. The level sets and Kai on Blu-Ray. God I'm weak.

Shouldn't that be higher, since you got the Dragon Boxes and (I'm assuming) the first "part" set for Kai? Or did they send you review copies so you didn't have to actually purchase them?

Either way, that proves even more that FUNi just can't (and shouldn't) expect us to support this same stuff release after release. They can't all sell like hotcakes, regardless of quality.

Oh, right. I don't know how I forgot the Dragon Box in there, considering I just got done talking about the Dragon Box.

For the record, I was talking about FUNimation's Kai Blu-ray original "Part 1" in there. I do also have the JP Blu-ray Vol. 1, but I don't count that as a FUNimation release for obvious reasons.

So yeah, 8th time purchasing Raditz from FUNimation.

I definitely feel VegettoEX's pain :P even though he might be a little crazier fan than me  BUT! I bought both box sets of the ocean dub(53 episodes) couple ultimate uncut's, all the orange brick sets and Kai, the level sets, Dragon-Boxes 1,3,6 and 7 haha and I'll probably buy this release as well lol You know that's how you can tell that Dragonball is just amazing when you are willing to keep re-buying the show over and over
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

See, I just got the 8 Kai season sets and stopped there, aside from the bluray movie packs. Saw no point in getting the boxes or orange bricks since its not the Kai dub and I cant stand the old english dub we have. Id love for Funimation to give the original Dragonball series a Kai treatment.
