Kuririn tells Gohan he would have been done in if Gohan didn't save his ass, which equates to "he almost died".

That would have been nice to have established earlier, instead of seemingly making huge jumps in logic that make your arguments seem incoherent.

I do find basing arguments off quotes from unofficial fansubs to be a bit....odd, though.

Regardless the art-work clearly shows Kuririn all bruised and scratched up, unable to stand.

I don't know, the way Jaco praises Kuririn seems to imply they are about equal or Kuririn a bit stronger. Those two make a good duo, brave and coward.

Kuririn almost died but you can easily say the soldiers that almost killed him were the powerful mercenaries Freeza hired. There, problem solved.

There's no way Jaco is stronger than Kuririn. That's just crazy talk.

He said Kuririn is strong for a human, meaning his expectations for humans isn't entirely terrific. I don't know how you interpret that as Kuririn being stronger than him.

Even so, Kuririn was worn out from fighting his batch but Jaco wasn't. The feats speak for themselves.

Kuririn's batch was a bunch of mercenaries stronger than the rest. Even after eating the Senzu, everyone of the fighters, except Jaco, had the scratches around them, so battle damage isn't a good indicator of strength in this fight. Roshi was really the only one who, understandably, got worn out, the rest didn't.

Piccolo had scratches as well. Scratches are irrelevant, even after they ate the Senzus they still had them. Kuririn could stand, after Gohan takes care of his batch for him, he goes on to eliminate a few more that Roshi could barely handle alone, Kuririn wasn't huffing and puffing, either. The scratches on his body also miraculously disappear when he's fighting with Jaco, then reappear again. Roshi was the one who got hit the most by far, he got knocked down like 2 or 3 times, more than anyone else. Jaco didn't decide who he was fighting, but his batch also got eaten by a giant fish, so they weren't too strong, now were they?

1. Vegetto vs. Fat Buu (eating contest; Vegetto can transform if that would help in some way, his metabolism or whatever)
2. Freeza vs. Cooler (wine-tasting)
3. Goku vs. (New 52) Superman (basket-weaving; specified New 52 because Silver Age Supes had a Super-Weaving power, and yes I did just type that sentence)
4. Cell vs. Whis (chess)
5. Jeice & Burter vs. Great Saiyaman 1 and 2 (synchronised gymnastics)

If we're taking F into account, then Roshi wins this alone.

If not, then it's tough because we don't know Mutaito's power beyond being weaker than Daimao. Considering he managed to seal him, he should at least be more skilled than Roshi, so I guess that could be an indicator of his strength, too. Gohan is basically useless here, his power is too low compared to Roshi's.

1. Fat Boo ate an entire city of people turned into candy. He's the biggest glutton in the series probably.
2. Cooler cause I don't see Freeza as very bright.
3. Superman cause he's more competent than Goku, and probably could use his super speed to make the basket in seconds. Goku doesn't have that kind of precision that Supes does.
4. Whis I think is more intelligent and can form strategies better. If he screws up he can cheat by turning time backwards.
5. Jeice and Burter cause Videl is too girly now and Gohan lacks the stat trinity of being important.
