Sequel To Dragonball Kai A Possibility?

I agree.I was hoping at the end of kai they would announce a new series that made GT an alternate reality. Like someone comes from the future to the past and prevent the events of GT from happening. They shouldn't even bother with it if Toriyama doesn't create story for it. Or he could just create a new manga and a new show gets created off of it.

There is so much wrong with this. I usually avoid responding to these, but wow, here goes:

-GT pretty much is an alternate reality. It barely fits into the anime, which in itself is separate from the manga.
-They're not going to bother "erasing" it because it isn't canon anyway. As for in-universe, you'd have to kill a handful of characters to prevent the Dragon Balls from building up negative energy.
-Toriyama isn't going to be creating any new manga himself. The DRAGON BOXes will be cheap before that happens.

Because there is no way to effectively fix a canon, Toriyama which is the god of Dragonball did not codify what is canon and what is not in the manner of George Lucas. If you would search the podcast archives, in there you will find a very informative episode that outlines all the reasons why it is very difficult to institute an official rule or standard for what is the approved story i.e. where it begins and ends.

If the excuse "you can't apply a beginning and and ending" flies with making GT "count," it can be used to say GT doesn't and that something DID happen after Goku flies off with Uub, but not what occurs with GT. IIRC, Toriyama himself left a note at the end of the series that the lives of these characters are up to each and everyone of us, the fans, to figure out how they live on.

My point is that it could go anyway, it could lead into DBO or GT and if I recall correctly the new endingconveys something entirely different with Vegeta’s closing statement. Even Julian admits “the Vegeta panel serves no real point. If anything, it makes the series a better setup for GT.”

If anything they could at least do the what they have done with DB Kai and try fix it up. Try and extend the story and elaborate in to things a bit more. Of course it shall never be the same as DB, DBZ/DBK

I smell a few porkie pies coming from your friend. How can they make a new series based on Evolution? Unless it's going to be a live action series based on Justin Chatwin etc. Now that's slightly worrying...

Not sure if this has been talked about on these forums already or if indeed it is true. I heard a while back that Fox appeared at the Brand Licensing Europe Expo in London, that they maybe making a series based from the movie. Could well be that Fox make a completely new DB Evolution spin off series which is voiced in English, completely different animation and characters more set to match those of the movie? Sure would be strange, and who knows if it would be up to scratch with what DB we have now.

Toei is cashing in on Dragon Ball, too. That's what they do when they make anything for Dragon Ball.

Of course at the end of the day they have to make money. Still it is nice to see that they still recognize it as one of there trademark programmes and are willing to put it back out there. (Although it has never really gone anywhere in the background)

Personally I'd want two series: a sequel and a prequel. The prequel would obviously be DB-era in Kai format, whereas a sequel would be an all-new series using plot elements from Neko Majin Z and DBO.

I'm curious as to what a younger Gohan Sr would look like. And how Gyu-Mao became (temporarily) evil, and if Chi-Chi's mom was originally one of the bad guys or not. That could be interesting. :3

Also if we're jumping back in time you could also include Tsuru-sennin and a younger Tao Pai Pai as possible bad guys for Kamesennin and his students to face.

*Nods*. I can imagine the two going hand in hand. The more treasure he stole/took/acquired-by-ill-means the more paranoid he grew about people stealing it from him.


Those filler eps after the 23rd Budoukai still make me wonder what happened with Chi-Chi's mom. You see most of her in this huge family portrait inside Gyu-Mao's castle, and apparently she died from something when Chi-Chi was very young, but that's it.


I mean, with characters like Goku and Vegeta there's no hints in terms of who their mothers were, but Chi-Chi's obviously got a backstory there somewhere, so I'm interested in what it would be. :3
