I do like the spine image though, having all the characters around the letters that spell out "DragonBall".

Yeah. Only interesting detail as far as I can tell.
But maybe there will be more (as compared to the Kanzenban) minute changes to some of the text? And will Bulma smoke?

There's got to be more new stuff in these versions than just the cover and spine if Shueisha really expects these to sell.

Have to be honest... I don't like the look of the covers at all. I look forward to seeing the spine image in full though.

It is good to see Dragon Ball on the rise again, though. These past 2 years have had so much new Dragon Ball media.

If there was, they would advertise it.
And I wouldn't worry about the sales, really... in Japan, it's either that or the Kanzenban from now on.

(which brings up an intriguing question: which version of the ending will they use? if they use the new one, that means the old one will soon disappear from the shelves forever...)

I am not in the least bit impressed by these. The whole "D B" thing just seems dumb considering how well known the original blue logo was. I do, however, look forward to the spine's completed illustration!

As for edits, who knows? I heard that a couple panels in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure were touched up in Japan for the re-release.

The new cover style itself is... meh. Like most everyone else, I'm just looking forward to the completed spine image. From the looks of things, we'll probably be getting the complete image of one character (or at least they're entire face, if we're right in assuming Shenron's somewhere in the image) per spine image. The whole setup of the spine image kinda reminds me of those pictures he made of a dragon ball character paired up with a number for one of the earlier calendars he did (EX uses 'em to update the number of years the site's been around).

As for any other new editions, I doubt they'd remove the original ending chapter. It just seems kinda stupid that they'd forever lose that last chapter for an alternate one. Better to make both available in some form, I say.

Well, like kei17 said, the "nani o suru da!" thing (eventually...) got corrected... I don't remember if some of the first comics had the same (real) tarot cards used in the serialization, but that could be another difference...
Apart from that though...?
(they did add a couple of pages in the bunko version though)

At this point, I'm not sure we should expect a lot of (new) changes for Dragon Ball, especially considering the Kanzenban is not that old...
Heck, they might even get lazy and not even keep the changes from the Kanzenban.
