Oh. Well, I saw on Wikipedia that Toriyama thought Gohan was unsuitable for the hero role. But then again, Wikipedia isn't always reliable...jordand wrote:Piccolo Daimao wrote:
I heard that Toriyama (and from other fans) didn't like this ending because he thought Gohan was unsuitable for that role. I just like this ending because Gohan, once a weak little boy who was totally against fighting (and probably still is) and always relied on his father, grew up to be the strongest fighter on Earth and defeated the greatest threat to the planet.
I actually read somewhere ( not sure where), that Toriyama wanted to actually shift the main focus to Gohan. But received to many complaints and had to put Goku back in. haha

Actually, Gohan was given the spotlight, and built up to be the hero throughout the series. The whiny fans wanted Goku back. Toriyama tried again with Gotenks, and with Gohan again towards the end of the series. But I guess the Japanese audience just didn't want that. Goku got the spotlight, because well, he's Goku!Piccolo Daimao wrote:Oh. Well, I saw on Wikipedia that Toriyama thought Gohan was unsuitable for the hero role.
