I'll be aiming to complete the original Dragonball US releases. Only missing 4, one of which is one of the expensive ones... :/

I'll buy them when they are in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart in 6 months.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

Now that DBZ and GT have been completely released consistantly, I wonder what FUNI's next step will be? Will it be dubbing the jump tour special? Will they get DB Kai? Will Viz release the jump tour special manga? Will FUNI release Dragon Ball season sets? They're gona have to do something now that there cash cow has run its course. I hope I'm not gona have to settle for bootlegs for Dragon Ball uncut sets. Please FUNI get the rights from Lionsgate!

Aka gtadbzman.

Why would Funi dub DBK? I think it would be a waste of their time if they dub now. It would have to be in a few years if they want to do it.
I think Mike would have to add a rumor guide regarding 2010 license expiring of Lionsgate.

To redeem themselves in the "dubbing DBZ accurately" department.

I have all of them.
Which is the most expensive one? Tournament Saga? It still pisses me off that I have them all neatly arranged on my DVD shelf, yet without a number ONE it looks utterly odd.
Also, I plan on picking up season 9 on release day. I bought the first season way back when it was released, then decided I hated the orange bricks and abandoned buying anymore. After a recent change of heart regarding the cropping, which in hindsight was made out to be a way bigger issue than it actually is, I bought season 2-8 all in one shot.
I'll now own the complete DB, DBZ, and DBGT episodes on dvd! .... Except for those pesky first episodes of DB. Something tells me that when they finally DO acquire rights to those episodes, they'll do a 'season' set instead of properly finishing off their otherwise perfect saga sets. I'll be pissed for sure, because it's going to fuck up my dvd wall arrangement.

The Tournament and Red Ribbon Army go for $300.

Huh. As it stands, as soon as I get my hands on this set, I'll at long, long, long last officially own, all at once, every single last solitary bit of animated Dragon Ball in some capacity (unedited and subbed). Fancy that.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

I'm still short that Red Ribbon set, damn. Though I'm unbelievably pleased with myself that I bought the Tournament saga and all the Daimaou/Piccolo ones when they came out ^__^ Muahha.

Seriously? Is that for a sealed copy of each? I have all 11 Dragonball Saga sets, including the import Australian Saga of Goku, but I never thought any of them were worth more than $30-40.
By the way, for the record, I think the Red Ribbon Army set has 18 episodes.

Once I get this, and my first Madman set come in, I will officially own the whole show from DB-GT. Hooray.
I too own a majority of the original DB sets. All of which I got brand new and factory sealed a few years ago. But I had to go dastardly routes to get some of the other episodes. My tournament saga is bootleg. I got it off some site that I couldn't find now if I tried. It is really terrible quality cause whoever bootlegged it decided all 15 episodes should be on one disk... My Red Ribbon Army one is also bootleg, but it is acutally direct DVD rips of the two discs, so I can't complain. The last Piccolo set is a "Dragonbox" dvd. It's actually very high quality, maybe it is a rip from the actual dragonbox?, but it has English subtitles that are not all that great. I own the edited first 13 episodes, but that will be rectified shortly.

Do I need a region free player to view the Australian release of The Saga of Goku?
Other than the region, is it identical to the Funi releases in the US? I.e. uncut Japanese versions, English subtitles, etc. ?

Not required. You just have to go to this site in order so that you can view it even if the player is from Region 1.

But most dub fans are content with their current dub, and most people who aren't are content with the Japanese version. I don't think there's enough of a demand for it.

Strange. I tried mine and it works pretty darn well. If you have PS2, try google it for "free region code" and see what comes out.

I have two cheap DVD region free players in my house anyway, and an X-Box 360, they may have missing remotes or on buttons that break off easily, but they're good enough. I'm just saying, they don't work on my region 2 only DVD players.
