We all want it to be "Ossu!", which is why it's almost certainly not. Once the first DB movie sees a release, we'll need something to replace it in the Waiting-For-This-Forever category.

I think the most obvious guess is movie 1 (probably as a double feature with movie 2), but fullscreen DBZ sets would be nice.

My guess woul have been Kai if not for that One Piece debacle, so probably DB Movie 1.

If I know Funimation AT ALL, their "Announcement" is probably going to be them Re-releasing DBZ in a proper 4:3 format. It would be great to have those original 70 episodes (Saiyan and Namek Sagas) on DVD so that the entire series would be in 4:3.

Although all they're probably going to do is release DB Movie 1.

I really, really, REALLY want it to be the Jump special. FUNi could justify releasing half an hour of content on a single release. They're releasing the Fullmetal Alchemist OVAs and they add up to about half an hour. They're just giving it a lower retail price. Plus, it would be really hard for FUNi to mess the dub up. The animation constantly lets you know what characters are saying (like when it cuts to a picture of the Ginyu Corps when Vegeta says how strong Abo and Cado are), so it honestly would be pretty hard for FUNi to make rewrites, regardless of how hard they'd want to.

If it's something like telling us redubbed Dragon Ball movies are coming, then I'll be let down. I mean, we can all already assume that, FUNi. Don't call it a "big announcement." I'll be even more disappointed if it's just video game news. Actually, I'm pretty sure anything but a new acquisition could disappoint me because that's what you think of when you hear the words "big announcement" in the anime world.

All I want at this point is the PlayDia footage and the Jump special, also maybe the fire fighting thing.

As for DBZ on Blu-Ray, if the Trunks and Bardock double feature is anything to go by, it's going to look like absolute shit, Head Cha La at 1080p looks like someone hit pastel wash in photoshop.

My biggest guess is Dragon Ball Movie 1 and/or double-features for the DB movies. Second guess is the Jump Special, which I can't see being dubbed and released until 2010 at the earliest.

I don't think it will be Kai. Funimation usually releases their anime a year or two after it's premiered in Japan.

I don't recall this announcement ever being hailed as "big". It's just an announcement from my perspective, as well as from what I've seen, and possibly one that merely syncs with the previous announcement (like DB Movie 1 after the announcement of season sets for DragonBall).

Aquisition of the new special would be nice, but somehow I'm doubting it; Shiyonasan is probably right with his assumption of 2010 at the earliest. Not that we wouldn't all like to be proven wrong with that one.

An announcement concerning video game news would make no sense, as the video games have all been . . . well, announced. I think.

While Kai would be great, I'm sort of hoping it's a proper release of Z. Maybe this 4:3 release could be in Yellow boxes?

What I would like is a 4:3 re-release of the sets with the Dragon Box master, where if you already had the widescreen sets, you can just trade those in for the new sets.

Keep all the grain, just telecine it at 1080p and give it a solid encode and I'll be happy.
