I bought the DVDs for Z movies 2-4 from Amazon.co.uk years ago, but never could find the others. Any stores have them in stock? I'd love to have the complete "Big Green" experience ;p

Actually, that IS movie 7, it just has a shot from movie 6 as the cover.

That sounds like when I was a kid, my dad bought me a Fantastic Four video with the main four on it thinking it was the 60s series. Turned out, it was the 70s series with the robot and no Human Torch, though he was on the cover and mentioned on the back of the box.

Sadly, the only way you'll be able to find the other movies is through Dutch auction sites. And even then, it's still near impossible to find the anything but the first few movies.

Yeah, I would have gotten the DVD ages ago if it was that easy. I've just got 2 & 3, which I think I bought offa Tanooki :P.

I've got all Dutch Big Green Dub DVDs so I can send you a copy of DBZ Movie 1 if it does not violate RULE #6: NO BOOTLEGGING. :)

By the way, on the English version of the official site of Toei Animation, movies share the same names with Big Green dub and Malaysian English dub. Are they the official names given by Toei?

Okay Kei, you gotta show us somea that movie 1 action whether it gets off to Big V or not! Please? Perhaps only audio clips as Tanooki used to do, or video - your choice.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
If I happen to be alone at home any time soon, I'll pop in the big green dub of movie 6 into our VCR and review it for you guys.
I'll even try to make clips of it.

But I have to be alone at home for this, because our VCR is downstairs and I'm too ashamed to go watch it with my family also there.

Ok so what is the deal with this Green Dub? I have no idea what it is. Is the audio in Dutch or Norwegian or something and it's just really rare to have? Just curious what it's all about...

It's a dub of some of the movies that aired in parts of eastern Europe. It's in English, but painful to listen to. As Kei17 pointed out, it probably originates from the Netherlands as the voice acting doesn't sound like native English speakers. The voices have a stereotypical "super hero" feel. It's referred to as the "Big Green" dub around here because Piccolo is actually named "Big Green" in it.

Oh my... I did some research just now and it does look like this has Dutch roots.. I'm so ashamed. Bridge Kids, under which it was published here, is a company belonging to the "Foreign Media Group", which is located right here in the Netherlands. Their site mentions nothing about voice actors or dubbing stuff themselves, though.

I was quite shocked to find out that their headquarters is in a city called Leeuwarden... which is only a couple of miles away from my home

I asked Sjef Scholte of Bridge Entertainment if it was dubbed by them, and the reply I got was "The dub was made by the original owner and not by Bridge". I really wish I knew who dubbed it though. *sigh*

So it's a Toei sanctioned dub then? Toei has been known to directly produce dubs before, at least in the US.

Maybe. By "original owner", I thought he meant "original owner of this English dub". Maybe I should ask Toei? Though, when I asked what companies made English dubs of DB, DBZ, and DBGT, the reply I got was...
Thank you for your inquiry.
We apologize for our late reply.
About the Dragon Ball series, actually a couple of companies, not only a company in the U.S. like FUNimation, might be licensed making English version of it for English-speaking countries in past times. Because the series has been airing longer than 10 years all over the world, then you could have been watch a English version of it made by a company in Europe. We are sorry that we are not able to refer the company name.
Thank you again for your understanding.

How different were their quality from FUNimation's older releases? They are 4:3 like FUNimation's.

I have here screencaps from my Movie 3 DVD.

I believe they meant AB Groupe. At least AB own the rights for Europe since the early 90ies (or even late 80ies).
