Dodoria slaughtering Dende's brother. Between the music and Dende's cries it literally sent a shiver down my spine. Then we get to see his smoking corpse. Yup that was one way to get me to hate Dodoria. I totally do NOT blame the Saban dub for editing this out, it's pretty danm brutal.

Freeza impaling Kuririn was pretty scary too thanks to the anime. Once again between the music and the close up on Kuririn's shocked face, man it creeped me out. If that wasn't bad enough they focused on the wound with blood slowly leaking out of it. Then Freeza decides to open the wound even further by jerking him around on his horns before tossing him into the lake. I believe my exact words to that scene was "Holy Fuck!" the first time I saw it.

What was even worse was how they even showed his blood splashing on to Gohan and Vegeta's faces.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Man oh man it's a mystery how Gohan wasn't absolutely traumatized by time he was 11.

I guess that that's the reason for him not wanting to fight Cell. He doesn't want any more bloodshed. No more impaled Krillins.

Moment where Freeza eats a crab. I always found it disturbing.

It's too bad Cell never impaled Krillin with his pointy hat. Gohan's reaction would have been priceless.

Dodoria killing the old Namekian (was it Moori?).

The part where Dodoria charged towards the Namekian, getting ever closer each time he vanished and reappeared was pretty chilling. And then, Dodoria splitting into two and reappearing behind the Namekian. Then, when he broke his neck, I think, if my memory serves me right, it went all black and white. That was probably one of the creepiest death scenes for me.

Pilaf doesn't play that shit.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Horror? DBZ had its moments of action, heartwarming, and tragedy, but I can't really think of anything I'd consider 'horror' in the series. I dunno, the only moment that ever felt really 'scary' to me was Trunks' flashback, the one where 'Mind Power...Ki...' plays. Doesn't help that back when I first saw that, I was young and DB and Pokemon were pretty much my only exposure to Anime, and I wasn't expecting something as shocking as a post-apocalyptic future with all those funky colors and the depressing music...it comes off very frightening, and I think it's still one of the more powerful scenes in the series as a whole. Definitely shows how srs bsns the series had become at that point, drastically different from the lighthearted comedy it used to be.

Or possibly anything involving Imperfect Cell Form 1. I mean, come on, look at that tail. I'm no Japanese schoolgirl, but I can't imagine that I'd feel very comfortable walking through the city alone at night with that thing lurking around the corner...and that's to say nothing of all his other destructive powers.

I heard so much about it and how bad it was that I was extremely underwhelmed when I actually saw it. It was all very clean looking and just the guy expanding wasn't enough to sell it for me.

If we were going for gore, I found the Cell Saga manga panels above to be much more disturbing than what happened to the exploding guy in the Boo arc.
But it was a horror-like moment, the way after he exploded, he very slowly started returning to solid form... it was all very quiet and eerie in the anime.

So I can see where he was coming from.

Kuririn's first death. Also Future Trunks' Terminator-ish flashbacks to the original timeline.
