I just want to know if the GT release we got resembles its Dragon Box counterpart. I mean like is the footage zoomed in, or are the colors altered, etc? Because the colors look more Dragon Box-esque than Z and Dragon Ball ever did. Plus, I read somewhere that it looked like the Dragon Box, so I'm just curious about that. And I'm talking about the original GT release (the singles), not the 2 Season Sets for it.

It makes sense that they continue to release their DB season sets for consistency, but having followed their DBZ season set run with the Dragon Box, I'm holding out for the same treatment with DB.
Thankfully, I only bought two of the DBZ season sets and didn't splurge on all nine, or the original series or GT sets. At this point, I think it's worth the wait to hold out. With the popularity of the franchise, they'll have no problem pushing the product once again in its ideal form.
I can see their parachutes.

Yeah but then again, people have had the series for 2 years already (little by little), able to watch in Japanese from beginning to end while you're waiting. To me, since the Season Sets were like dropping $35 every 3 or 4 months, it was okay. It's not like I dropped all of it at once, then I'd say "hell no" and wait for the Dragon Boxes. And I think that's a lot of people's outlook on it. Maybe I'm wrong.

Can you really say that after the Dragonbox announcement?

Maybe 1 or 2 sets...
No, no, no! I meant DB, not DBGT. That would be insanely ridiculous. Lol.

I thought he was referring to my initial post, where I entertained the thought of seven sets to keep in line with the Dragon Ball motif.

Oh. Maybe that's what he was referring to. He said that right after my post, so I thought he was talking to me.

I can see four sets for the original Dragon Ball and two for GT, should they get domestic Dragon Box releases. And two sets for movies, one for the movies, another for the TV specials and features like the Playdia footage (should they get that) and perhaps the Jump Special.

I do also believe DB and DBGT will have a Dragon Box release. How they would release them I don’t know but we all would buy them right? So the demand is there, they will make FUNimation money.

I like this idea but I do think the Jump Special is unlikely to feature on a Dragon Box release. Though it would be a really nice touch. Maybe the second movie box would be titled as a Dragon Box Specials box rather than movie box making it a whole new Dragon Box.

My reasoning is because I have a doubt that many people in North America are going to buy the Jump Special on its own, at a regular DVD price, given its short length. If they included it on the R1 Dragon Boxes, it would make a lot more sense.

But, I'm speaking in logic, which has little to do with actual marketing.

I see Funimation did manage to release the FMA "OVAs" on a DVD and it worked out just fine for them.

It is hard to say what they will do. I guess without any confirmation of anything else being released and only very minimal information about the movie DBox we can only hope they do release everything.

I can't see anything DragonBall not making them money.

Maybe an individual release of the Jump Special after a DBox release for those who don't want to "double dip" with stuff they already have.

I don't see there being enough non-movie specials to make up a DBox, though. There's Burdock, Trunks, Goku Jr., the OVA, and the Jump Special. Compare that to 17 fucking movies on a hypothetical "first" movie DBox. It's a tad imbalanced, I think. I would suggest putting the four DB movies on the second box to balance it out a little, but that doesn't make much chronological sense because all the specials are from the Z era. I'd make a joke about putting Evolution on there, but FUNi doesn't own the rights and I don't want you guys to kill me.

This is why i would like to see a "Dragon Box The Specials" It could contain the 3 TV specials, the OVA and the Jump Special as well as all extras that the original DBoxes contained.

I wonder if FUNimation would have the rights to make up a whole new DBox. It would need a Dragon Book to but they may have to make that up themselves (would we trust them to do that).

Personally I don't care about GT, but I hope the original Dragon Ball gets the Dragon Box treatment here in the US

Are the DB remastered sets better than the Z ones?

They will probably divide the episodes according to the original DVD books. Dragon Ball had 7, so maybe they'll release in sets of two... like this:

Set One: Episodes 1-42 (7 Episodes on 6 Discs)
Set Two: Episodes 43-84 (7 Episodes on 6 Discs)
Set Three: Episodes 85-120 (6 Episodes on 6 Discs)
Set Four: Episodes 121-153 (6 Episodes on 4 Discs; 5/4 Episodes on 2 Discs)
An interviewer asks, "The soundtrack in Sonic 3 has become legendary. Is it true that you worked with Michael Jackson on it?" Takashi Iizuka kills all of our hopes and dreams by replying, "You know, those are just rumors, and SEGA does not want to say anything about them. So they will forever be just rumors..." WHY!?

Yes... very, very much so.

Speaking of the season sets: I've read that they're "zoomed in" compared to the Dragon Boxes. Is this also true in relation to the old FUNi DVDs? Do the old FUNi releases have the same zooming as the season sets?

Anyone know the answer to this question before I buy a season set?
