But the 10yr thing i think that Gohan would have trained a little bit in between there cause Goku is around and he made it to scholar status and has a family so Chichi can get off his ass about studying. So I would say that Gohan trained some but not a whole ton. To me there is no indication that Gohan stopped or didn't stop training its just a matter of opinion.
I actually think that Chi-Chi didn't force Gohan to study as hard as she used to. Goten mentioned that Chi-Chi used to spar with him, and in the anime I think there was a moment where Gohan was thinking to himself and speculating whether it was Goku's death which made her take a more positive attitude to fighting. I think this too, and that she realized that now Goku was gone and her son Gohan was the most powerful person on Earth (and its best hope for maintaining the peace), training was important.
Chi-Chi did seem more mellow than before. Although I noticed the slight change even in the Cell Arc (Chi-Chi letting Goku train Gohan in the ROSAT, and not being shouty when she told Goku to promise her that Gohan wouldn't fight).

If you don't train, your abilities go down. Gohan may have maxed out his potential, but if he did nothing to keep his power toned up it would eventually start slipping.

But at that level, how do you train anyway? Benchpress planets?

It seems silly to think that Rou Kaioshin's technique would make Gohan only temporarily stronger. I think that there is a reason why he is called "Ultimate Fighter" Gohan.
But is it really such a stretch to think he didn't train with Goku and Goten at all even to get excercise?(sorry don't know how to spell that right.) I mean really it is people like you that seem so convinced that something like Gohan could not train at all during those 10yrs that annoy me. I mean really think about it. He is Goku's son not just Chichi's.

I'm sure he'd join in the sparring every once in a while. But I just can't see him training seriously anymore. It's just not his main focus.

Why the hell would something like that annoy you? Chill my friend.
What I meant is that he didn't train, just because he didn't need to.
I didn't say that if he needed to train, he wouldn't. If that was the case, yes, I think that he did train.
But did he get stronger? No, I don't think so. And I believe that noone would surpass him either.
