Fans know more than Toriyama ?
Re: Fans know more than Toriyama ?
"DragonBall? Gee, that sounds familiar... isn't that Oda-kun's series?"

Re: Fans know more than Toriyama ?
I think it's basic common knowledge that the fans will always like the series better than the author does. They will always appreciate it much more than the author will, and they will always delve much further into the series and fill their brains with information and in-depth theories much more than the author. Why? Because they are the fans who love the series, and the author is just the person who wrote it (not using the word "just" to say, "Aw, fuck him, all he did was write it." Just that he created a series that everyone loves--they love the series, not him--if you get me).
From personal experience, I'm something of a cartoonist and like to draw. I always seem to criticize my own work, picking out flaws that the people around me who like my drawings would not acknowledge. Yet, my "fans" will look at my drawings and appreciate it for what it is. Even when I think there's something that I could do better with it, they're absolutely happy with it.
It's not just Dragon Ball. It has to be every series. I think even an author can get bored with his own work sometimes, when you're living with it for the most of your life, and it's a career. We have to look at it from the author's perspective sometimes. And take into account that Toriyama wasn't pretty tired with the manga by Boo Arc.

Toriyama's attitude seems fairly typical of an author. The creation process is all blurred together in memory, and he's his own biggest critic.

Dude, what the hell are you talking about? Saying that taking antioxidants prevents Alzheimer's is like saying you can stop cancer by eating more apples. It's wrong, and fairly offensive.linkdude20002001 wrote:Alzheimer's disease doesn't really come from old age. It's just from taking poor care of your body. I forget what vitamins/minerals prevented it, but it was probably the antioxidant ones.

As compelled to comment as you seem to have been, let's try not to bump threads that are over a year old, a'ight?
