Re: First experience with Dragonball
When I was 7 years old, I've heard of it but haven't seen much of it. My older brothers friend showed some clips of it. I think there was a clip of the Z fighters going to Goku's house, and Gohan coming out only for Chichi to tell him to go back in.
The first time I actually seen Dragonball Z was FUNimations dub of the Frieza Saga. I saw an episode where Gohan, Kuririn, Piccolo, and Vegeta were fighting Frieza's second form. Then I watched some of the Trunks Saga, and watched Trunks whoop everyones ass. I was like holyshit, a badass character. Then I watched part of the Artificial Human Saga and had no clue what was going on. Days have passed, and already I was watching the Great Saiyman Saga long with the Imperfect Cell Saga. I wanted to see Goku fight Cell very bad. I never did, though because they stopped playing it in favor of the Majin Buu Saga's. I hated it when they just ended it at cliffhangers.

Re: First experience with Dragonball
It was in 1999 back when Kids WB was still airing the first 2 seasons in New York. It was the episode where Vegeta escaped from Frieza's spaceship. I quickly dismissed it because of how odd the art style was and how cheesy it seemed.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Re: First experience with Dragonball
lsakdfjglkhj, I just remembered the time I woke up super early to catch the Mexican dub of Dragon Ball Z on Telemundo or Univision or w/e channel it was on and later asking my grandmother (I'm Hispanic) to translate Cha-La Head-Cha-La, thinking it was in Spanish as opposed to Japanese. Silly me. I must have been 9 or 10 at the time.
It's been done countless times before, but...

Actions have reactions so don't be quick to judge, you may not know the hardships that people don't speak of.

First is a typo I've been using since I was nine, so I doubt it'll go away anytime soon. Second, I've never caught on to how to spell his name and gave up ages ago because it's just that one name in the cast that's beyond me. Third, simply a matter of opinion. I use Nameksei when I'm feeling affectionate, despite the fact that it doesn't match the way I refer to the race themselves.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote: Chrono Trigger

But yeah, this is a happy thread, I'd rather discuss the topic at hand than explain my well-known spelling eccentricities.

Gosh, it was a long time ago. Not really sure. As far as I remember, I was at a friend's house who is several years younger than me and we were watching TV. It was RTL II and it was Dragon Ball in all its beauty. I think it was the episode where Goku turned into a giant ape and smashed Pilaf's castle and stuff. I hated it.
The art, everything. I was an idiot.
Then I caught once again back at home while Goku was fighting Piccolo in the Tournament. I was, like, "wow" - totally assmazed!
It was a pretty gory moment where Piccolo *removed* his arm and grew a new one.
Well, that didn't quite get me hooked either and for a couple of years I had forgotten about it...
Until some time later when I started watching Z on CN. And... I fell in love.
And up to this day nothing's changed. On the contrary, I believe I'm just growing more fond of it.
Akira-sensei has truly produced a masterpiece.
