Favorite Villains!

I'm not going to try to put this in any particular order, except for Buu being #1. On that note:

Majin Buu: This is counting all forms of Buu as the same person. I just love this guy. His powers are entertaining, he's creative in how he uses them, he routinely jumps from comical to menacing, he has one of the best designs in the series, tons of transformations, his constant personality changes are interesting, he never/almost never pulls "I'm not really left-handed!", he has great fights, and on top of all that, he's hilarious. To further break it down:

-Fat Buu: Gaffer and Kamiccolo covered most of it; he's arguably the most unique villain in the series. However, I'd also like to add that I find it highly amusing whenever he just trolls his way through his fights and wins without really paying attention.
[Somewhat off-topic, but the poster above me pointed out how funny and ridiculous it was that the universe destroying terror was a fat pink man child, and I agree. The WTF reactions of all of the characters were great. But why did they (and by "they" I think I'm talking about Gohan) say that they expected him to be bigger? Fatso was like eight feet tall and extremely wide...]

-Super Buu: My favorite form. This guy just doesn't give a shit about anything. He wants to have fun, and so he will. If that means lots of people die, well, that's your problem. But don't think for a second that his gluttony, huge size, and lack of eloquence indicate stupidity. He's cunning and quick on his feet, a welcome change after two big bads who were primarily short tempered arrogant brutes with little brainpower. His planning and surprisingly common shows of common sense really made me appreciate him as a villain. On top of that, his battles are great, the character himself is just too badass not to love, and he more than any other form of Buu successfully pulls off quickly switching between creepy and amusing. Whether he's being a barely controllable ticking time bomb, a bored straight man, or a ruthless and sadistic schemer, he's always tons of fun to watch.

-Pure Buu: IMO, this form is the weakest, both because he's more of a force of nature rather than a character, and because his stretch of the story has the worst quality writing. Despite that, I did like him while he was around, which thankfully wasn't that long so he didn't become boring. His sadistic nature and playfulness paired with his chaotic fighting style resulted in numerous fun battles. Plus he was totally awesome when he blew up the Earth.

Piccolo Daimao: The first real super villain. Powerful, cunning, intelligent, intimidating, and brutally, frighteningly effective, he's everything a villain of his type should be. Which may explain why so many later villains borrow from him. Oh, and I admire his passion for his work. He's evil and he fucking loves it.

Imperfect Cell: Like Fat Buu, he's a fairly unique villain. Rather than being arrogant and battle hungry, he was sneaky and manipulative, waiting for the best possible time to strike his enemies, and hiding when at a disadvantage. He had a good build-up, and was either creepy or badass whenever he was onscreen/on-panel. Too bad that he became progressively worse with each transformation.

As for minor villains:

Dabra: Dabra was in many ways a model example of an evil demonic badass, and surprising loyalty to Babidi, cool powers, and relatively sane suggestions keep him from becoming a stock character. To this day, I wonder just how far Babidi's mind control went; after all, Vegeta and Spopovich, and from the limited information we know Pui Pui and Yakon, seemed to more or less retain their personalities despite Babidi's control; they were still prideful, revenge-obsessed, arrogant, gluttonous. I wonder how much of the Dabra we saw was actually Dabra. He warned his master about Buu and died trying to protect, even though the ungrateful asshole didn't care, making him somewhat pitiable. Finally: anime Heaven Dabra. That is all.

Babidi: He's just such a complete and utter bastard in every way. He's cowardly, cruel, greedy, murderous, smug, and abusive, treating even his own henchmen like shit. I love to hate Babidi, which makes his gory death at the hands of Buu very amusing. Finally, as a sorcerer with no personal combat abilities, he was a unique and unexpected type of villain. He even gets a motivation beyond "he's just an asshole" (not that there's anything wrong with a villain just being an asshole, mind you).

Ginyu: He seemed more competent and civilized than the average thug under Freeza's control, and had a silly personality along with one of the most unique moves in the series.

Nappa: Aside from being a generic brute, I find that Nappa works very well as a foil to Vegeta. Especially in the anime. Nappa's hot blooded personality and short temper is contrasted with Vegeta's relatively calm demeanor, and his loyalty to his comrades (from fellow Saiyan nobility to lowly grunts to even Saibamen) is contrasted with Vegeta's cold blooded selfish nature and survival of the fittest attitude.

Tambourine: Not much personality to speak of, but he was very effective for a simple henchman, so I gotta give him some props for that.
