The Kanzentai update seems to indicate rumors are suggesting Kusao will return (thank heavens), but such is still rumor.

Actually, they will HAVE to. If you remember in the Buu arc, when he's in Chibi form, he goes to the planet where Kaio and Kuririn and all the other fighters are. There, he senses Goku and Vegeta. How did it go in the manga? They can't get around it.

Actually no, they dont have to show that. They can just have Kid Buu instantly teleport to the Supreme Kai's planet. In the Manga it showed him reform in space, and then teleport straight to the planet. The animation's for the teleportation can be mixed and it can work.

Watch episode 278 and see for yourself, half way through the episode Buu teleports, and around the end of the episode, it shows him teleporting to the Supreme Kai planet.

From what I remember the Garlic Jr arc begins with Gohan at his desk. A bunch of stuff happens. Then when Trunks starts, it starts with Gohan at his desk. It'd be silly NOT to cut it out, it doesn't improve the story and no one mentions it afterwards. I think Kami says something about wanting Piccolo to be the new Kami? Then no one mentions that again either. The whole thing is one Big Lipped Alligator Moment.
