Any news on Dragon Boxes for DB and GT?
Re: Any news on Dragon Boxes for DB and GT?
I wouldn't hold your breath for releases that may never happen. Unlike most of the Z ones, the GT and DB Season Sets are fine, quality releases. I don't think it's wise to miss out on a good thing because of mere speculation that something better might someday maybe perhaps come at one point whenever.

Patience is the keyword here.
If they never come out with Dragon Boxes for the rest of the franchise, the season sets will be much cheaper by then.
So I can afford to wait it out.

Exactly, that's why I've bought the GT Season Sets. Besides, it's just GT, why would you want to spend more money on it?Kaboom wrote:I wouldn't hold your breath for releases that may never happen. You're right. People should just pick up used copies of the singles for cheap. Spend less money and get a more complete product than the season sets.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:Exactly, that's why I've bought the GT Season Sets. I think buying the 2 Season sets would be cheaper than buying the 4 singles boxsets.Gaffer Tape wrote: You're right. People should just pick up used copies of the singles for cheap. Spend less money and get a more complete product than the season sets.

Maybe. Maybe not. I'm sure you could find someone selling off their old singles on eBay on the cheap in order to fund their purchase of the season sets. I could be wrong, but I doubt this is a case of out-of-print DVDs appreciating in value.

Re: Any news on Dragon Boxes for DB and GT?
I could really care less if DB and/or DBGT get a DBox release seeing as I've already got the whole uncut series for the both of them. DBZ on the other hand is a different story.
You see, I was one of the idiots suckered into buying the Ultimate Uncuts that FUNimation cancelled halfway through, which pretty much killed any passion I had left for the series, so thankfully I never even touched the Orange Brick sets. However, when the DBoxes were announced I felt like a little schoolgirl because I was estatic and the passion I had lost seemed to come soaring back. So far I've only got the DBox 1, but will buy 2 when I find it for a relatively cheap price, along with the rest as they're released.

Re: Any news on Dragon Boxes for Db and GT
The thing is, the Dragon Boxes aren't that much more expensive than the DBZ season sets and most of the Dragon Boxes will contain significantly more episodes than the individual season sets (25 episodes at the lowest count on the season sets versus 42 for the Dragon Boxes) and superior picture quality make the Dragon Boxes an incredible deal.Krycek7o2 wrote:In the end, its not FUNimation to blame, but people for simply not caring. People undoubtedly got what they paid for. If the Dragon Box fails in America, its because people don't care to buy a higher priced Dragon Ball product, when they can get the same amount of episodes for a cheaper price.
I doubt GT would be split into two boxes as they would simply be a near identical release with better picture and different packaging. GT is short enough that it could conceivably be released as a single box.Take this example. If they split the GT Dragon Box into two boxes (Episodes 1-34/35-64), the Dragon Box would go for 50-60, but the season sets go for 25-30. Which one will people buy more?
I've, personally, never seen the logic of people thinking that just because the DBZ Dragon Boxes are being released that the Dragon Ball and GT boxes must be following them. Do I think it is an impossibility? No, but the expectation makes about as much sense as the whole "Nimoy is in Trek XI so Shatner must be in it as well" nonsense prior to Trek XI's release.I personally don't believe we will be seeing the Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball GT Dragon Boxes in America.

Or even better, a straight-up English release of the original GT Box!OutlawTorn wrote:GT is short enough that it could conceivably be released as a single box.

I remember when the remastered DBZ sets were coming out, and I thought that they would never release GT remastered, and lo' and behold, about a few months later there was con footage for a trailer for GT remastered season 1.

Re: Any news on Dragon Boxes for DB and GT?
I personally would love to see a Dragon Ball Dragon box release. My Hong Kong Dragon Ball Dragon Box I think is pretty solid for what I paid for it ($50 USD on ebay back 3 years ago), but I would liek to have an official release. Not to mention, it doesn't have those sweet next episode previews, it's more of a marathon mode on each disc. The quality could be better, but it's more than watchable.

I'm pretty sure Funimations gonna release Dragonbox , Dragonbox GT, and Dragonbox The Movies cuz if they released The Dragonbox Z it wouldnt make sense if they dont release the whole damn series of dragonball XP including the movies if only we have more extras for the dragonbox

Re: Any news on Dragon Boxes for Db and GT
I do believe I asked this on Funi's forum a few months ago, but has anyone bothered putting up some comparison shots between the DB/GT remastered season sets and Japan's Dragon Boxes?Cipher wrote:Gaffer Tape wrote: On topic: the Green and Blue Bricks seriously aren't bad products. The only thing that irks me is the lack of previews (no biggie) and the zoomed in-footage in Dragon Ball (also no biggie, as long as it's not worse than the old releases). I'm holding off on them right now, simply because if Dragon Boxes are released, I'd rather get those. But if not, I'll have no qualms with picking up the Season Sets for cheap.
It's been done countless times before, but...

I would also add to that that we are the ONLY country outside of Japan to get Dragon Box releases. FUNimation really went full-out with that, so it's disappointing to see that they're not selling exceptionally well.Kendamu wrote:You act like they just had the Dragon Box sitting around and said, "Hey, let's give them crap instead!" In the initial con announcement of the DBox, it was mentioned how hard it was for FUNi to get the DBox from Toei and it was pretty obvious that it was a very recent acquisition when they announced it due to the lack-of-info on audio options and the misquote of the number of pages per Dragon Book.Vegeta Jr wrote:
Seeing as though it was advertised as the 'definitive' version and the Dragon Boxes were pretty much the biggest surprise outside of Japan like ever, I think that mindset of yours is totally wrong.
That's like giving FUNimation a free pass on the debacle.
So, up until getting the Dragonbox, the Orange Bricks were FUNi's definitive version of DBZ and was probably going to stay around for a long time as such. However, fan demand from those of us who didn't settle for the Orange Bricks eventually brought the DBox over!
Anyone who settled for less and isn't happy now is just going to have to tough it out the same way many of us who bought the more expensive Japanese version without subtitles have to tough it out.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Re: Any news on Dragon Boxes for DB and GT?
I sold all of my steelcase movies in hopes of seeing Dragon Box The Movies be announced and almost sold the GT Season Sets for the Dragon Box version. Good thing I didn't because we don't even know if the GT Dragon Box will ever be released here. I regret selling the movies, though, and need to get them back. But right now, it's unlikely we will see Dragon Boxes of anything other than Z, but we shall see what happens in the future.

Re: Any news on Dragon Boxes for Db and GT
Are they not? No doubt there are plenty of people who bought the Orange Bricks and refuse to double dip but I haven't heard any reports that the Dragon Boxes are flat out tanking. The only indication that they're selling less than great is that big box stores aren't stocking them on their shelves as much. But that might be for a number of reasons.TheBlackPaladin wrote:I would also add to that that we are the ONLY country outside of Japan to get Dragon Box releases. I could have sworn someone (TripleRach, maybe?) posted data on the DBoxes, and that they were ranking in the top 5 in several different categories of sales.

Re: Any news on Dragon Boxes for DB and GT?
I guess it's possible that the sales of each volume are worse than the previous ones but you'd think that would be negligible since most people buying one would likely be in it for the long haul.
