Didn't we pretty much figure out that the new VA is Chris Ayres?

Re: New Freeza Talkback
Not exactly, we figured out that there's a very high probability that the new VA is Chris Ayres. We also don't know what he'll sound like, either--whether he'll use his real voice or a new one. I'm very familiar with Greg Ayres, but not so much with his brother Chris. Assuming for a second that the new Freeza is Chris Ayres, it will be the first role I've heard him in. Ever since I heard that it might be him, I've gone out of my way not to watch anybody that he voices, and have avoided all clips on YouTube of him. I want to be surprised.MetalMadness wrote:Didn't we pretty much figure out that the new VA is Chris Ayres?
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:

Re: New Freeza Talkback
So, hey... who's seen Avatar: The Last Airbender...?

Guess who appears to have red lipstick, a white face, and was voiced very smooth, cold, collected, calculated, and powerfully? That's an ancient spirit named Koh, and that's the kind of casting I'd expect for a male Freeza. OK, so it's not entirely accurate for the character of Freeza, but I can see what the Avatar (casting) directors were going for -- they understood the character, which is more than just its appearance. It's got nothing to do with a "male" or "female" tone of the voice, though in this particular case it's (obviously) quite deep and "manly", if you will. Was looking for some clips to post up, but didn't see any on YouTube. Ended up just encoding one of my own -- check it (XviD, 6.2 MB).
Don't really have a whole lot to add to the conversation with this example. It's relevant, though, right...? Very much looking forward to this...!

I like that voice, that would work for Freeza's voice!

Tomorrow? I can't wait to hear it (that is, if some kind soul puts it up on YouTube).
Re: New Freeza Talkback
I definitely thought it was today...and now I'm disappointed.

It is today...well, I mean, it is Thursday. I screwed up on my first post in this thread in so many different ways...spelling, grammar, DATES...I don't know what the hell happened. Go back and you'll see that it has been edited five times (pfft, and counting). Regardless, it is TONIGHT, THURSDAY, JUNE 17TH, 2010, 8:00 PM EASTERN STANDARD TIME, NICKTOONS, DRAGON BALL Z KAI...and uh, yeah...there will be a new Freeza...Big Momma wrote:I definitely thought it was today...and now I'm disappointed.

I'll try to record it on to my phone as I can put it directly to my Youtube account from there.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:Tomorrow? I can't wait to hear it (that is, if some kind soul puts it up on YouTube).

Where in episode 17 does he talk, because I skimmed the episode without hearing and Freeza. Edit: I guess it's episode 19, eh?TheBlackPaladin wrote:It is today...well, I mean, it is Thursday. Re: New Freeza Talkback
You won't hear Freeza talk till the very end, and like Kirbopher said, he only has one line. After that scene, the narrator wraps up the episode.

Re: New Freeza Talkback
Well atleast we will get a taste of his new voice, thats worth it to me.
Re: New Freeza Talkback
Clips of episode 20 will be up shortly on the Nicktoons site after episode 19 airs, so you should most likely get more of a taste for his new voice soon.TRIZACK wrote:Well atleast we will get a taste of his new voice, thats worth it to me.

funimation
Tonight is the debut of DBZ Kai episode 19 on Nicktoons -- that also happens to be the ep in which we first see Frieza. But played by who?

funimation
I know, I know! Tell you what - the 1st person who can tell me who voices Frieza after the show starts will win DBZ Kai Part One on DVD.

funimation
BUT - those who answer after the episode ends are disqualified. You know, because you read it off the credits.

So now FUNimation themselves have joined in on the hype.
