Re: Post Dragon Box
My ex girlfriend bought me the first four season sets when they came out circa 3 years ago, I had neglected to watch them because I was busy. As it turns out when we split I had more time, so I went to watch them and was disappointed with the picture quality and the cropping. Before viewing the sets I had planned on buying the rest, and when I first went to watch them discovered they were all released. I went on to daizenshuu ex to read about what people thought about the seasons sets and found even more problems that I had glanced over. I saw threads about the Dragon box but I thought it referred to the Japanese set that was released years ago. It was not until a recent update talking about the third Dragon box a few months ago that I noticed they had been released in the US. I bought them when they were on sale at Amazon for $26.99, then proceeded to put my season sets on eBay. I shipped them earlier today, but a few days ago I decided I would like to own dvd's that include the Faulconer score that are not the orange bricks. While I do have all the episodes ripped from the brick sets in good quality I still love having the official release and hope that in buying things such as the Dragon Box I hope Funimation will continue to release the series in that format, hopefully DB and DBGT as well. If there is no release in the future I will stick with my ripped dvd's or possibly re-buy the bricks at a much lower price, it's as simple as that.Gaffer Tape wrote:Okay, now I'm really confused. So you bought the first four season sets to rip them to your computer so you could sell them... But you support the official release, so you want to buy them... again? Again, I ask you, if all those things are important to you, why did you sell them in the first place? Did you only come to the conclusion that you wanted to support the official release after you sold them the first time? Because I see your problem being nearly halfway solved if you simply hadn't sold them the first time. Or, when you say that you want to support the official release, you mean that you insist on buying every single re-release and just hope that a potential future release has the same content that was on the release that you already owned but sold in order to finance the... next release? Granted, I can certainly understand the logic in selling the orange bricks in order to get the Dragon Boxes since the orange bricks are... well, all manner of terrible. But like you've stated, the orange bricks do have a feature that the Dragon Boxes don't have but you desire, and you knew this, so I still don't understand why you sold them.skatezeppelin wrote:*snip*

Re: Post Dragon Box
I can see what you're saying, jjgp. While the DragonBox does have the better audio/video of the two, it's not so much so that I'd straight out sell all of my season sets just to re-buy the series in DragonBox form. Especially if you enjoy the dub score.jjgp1112 wrote:Uhhh...that was the point. Still, though. I will be getting the Dragon Boxes in their entirety...but that's only because I only own Season 3 of the bricks. Nothing against them...I just didn't have the money at the time.

I getcha, but there's an easier and less costly solution to your problem. You still have the files ripped from the official orange brick DVDs that you owned, right? Well, edit the audio together with the DBox footage. Okay, maybe not nearly as easy but certainly less costly and redundant than yet another repurchase.skatezeppelin wrote:*snip*

I could do that once all the dragon boxes are released, do you or anyone know a good editing program for Mac, would I movie work.Gaffer Tape wrote:I getcha, but there's an easier and less costly solution to your problem. I would also have to rip the dragon box dvds, it sounds like too much work. If I need a Faulconer fix I can just watch the copies I have. On other note, I am sure a lot of people would be interested in playable dvd's with dragon box quality and the Faulconer score.

I really think FUNimation should've included Faulconer Production's score on the Dragon Boxes for dub fans or fans like skatezeppelin. I bet FUNimation would've made more money off them if they did.

Stop posting pointless things, and don't post if you clearly see that you've screwed up some of the quoting tags. Why wouldn't you fix it, rather than posting up garbage...? Don't you people preview your posts before making them...?

Re: Post Dragon Box
1) No one "makes" FUNi do anything. They're leading the industry right now, they can afford to (mostly)do what they want.Goku100xKamehameha wrote:But there are also people that don't like dub music and make FUNi to not include them.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:I really think FUNimation should've included Faulconer Production's score on the Dragon Boxes for dub fans or fans like skatezeppelin. 2) People were against the dub score being on the DBOXes because we didn't know how that would affect the video quality, since the discs were already going to have a whole 'nother audio track(the dub), subtitles, and the Japanese track. The quality of the Faulconer's music in and of itself was irrelevant to anyone making a rational argument back when FUNi announced the DBOX.

My apologies, I was running out and didn't see that a previous poster screwed up quoting tags, which I subsequently followed. Also, I am just encouraging Goku100xKamehameha to be himself because he is one of my favorite posters on the forum along with Piccolo Daimaoh.VegettoEX wrote:Stop posting pointless things, and don't post if you clearly see that you've screwed up some of the quoting tags. VegettoEX, I discovered your podcast again after just listening to the first one years ago, when I got new speakers. I have been up all night listening to them, which may have contributed to my error. In addition, while the question has been answered and I agree with many posters, what is your opinion on funi releasing DBZ with the Faulconer score in the future, maybe when the series comes to blu ray, say after Kai is released?

Re: Post Dragon Box
My opinions and thoughts are the same as everyone else has put forth. They've left replacement musical scores behind. They're a "legitimate" domestic anime company now. This is all for the best.
