Aw well, it makes for good background for future Budokai games.

Well they had muscle tower still standing in Attack of the Saiyans. It was still left standing for whatever reason.

But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

The 2 fake Namekian, alien dudes who trick our heroes. I thought they were legitamately creepy, regardless of the fact that they get their asses handed to 'em by Gohan & Krillin .

The space orphans. I like the whole thing with Gohan and co. looking around, avoiding traps, and the forshadowing of Freeza's inevitable presence.

Nappa and Vegeta's playtime on Arlia ain't bad too.

I liked a lot of the filler in the series.

The saiyan saga's was probably the best, though things like the space orphans and Garlic Jr. were enjoyable.
I suppose when it comes down to it, I liked the filler where Piccolo and everyone is chasing after Cell, it gave him a different, more creepy like feel than any of the other villains so far.

The Afterlife Budokai is really good.

I might get lynched for this, but I like what the anime added to the Great Saiyaman stuff too...

It was used as a background in Dragonball Z Budokai 1 or 2 I think.

I liked pure Dabura in heaven.

It has a real '80s US cartoon feel to it, and is also very Lord of the Flies, I rarely hear praise but still talk about it myself. And Zeshin and Boone are my favourite filler characters for some reason.
It's always personally given me a very, very vaguely, hazy Macross-ish vibe (or rather if Macross, or something somewhat similar to it were drawn by Toriyama). Which is probably because its easily the single most heavily "space opera-ish" episode of the entire series whilst also sporting that decidedly, heavily 80's anime look to it; Macross would thus be the first thing I'd think of in that light, as its pretty much THE definitive/iconic space opera anime of the 80's

Perhaps that could be why you might associate it with 80's US cartoons: Macross being so intrinsically a part of Robotech and all. I don't personally get any kind of US cartoon vibe from it at all, 80's or otherwise, but then again I was also never into Robotech or American co-opted productions like it (Voltron and the like).
I probably meant that, since the cartoons I had in mind aren't American, they're either Japanese or French (Ulyssys something something, Jayce and the something something. I do get a Macross-y vibe from it though, that being one of my favourite anime series.

I guess it also reminds me of Gundam, where a group of under 20 year olds (plus a mature woman and a fat guy) command of a ship (as well as some giant robots), which also had some young children running around.

EDIT: Oh yeah, Infinite RYVIUS too, I gotta get that boxset, it literally is Lord of the Flies in Space.

I too liked that filler, because Great Saiyaman reminds me of the Ginyu Force, and more of that is always good.

My fave filler is SSJ2 Goku vs Kid Buu.

Although I agree with that the scene is cool, I just have to put this out:
1) Goku and Vegeta are equally strong as SSJ2s (as seen in their fight and mentioned several times in the Arc)
2) Goku stood against Kid Buu pretty well as a SSJ2, and followed his motions pretty well
3) Vegeta did really bad against Kid Buu, and stated that Kid Buu was too fast and very strong
4) Thus the scene fucks the power concept up, and even makes it look like that Goku is just a tad bit stronger than Kid Buu in his SSJ3 form, and just a tad bit weaker than him in his SSJ2 form. It doesn't make sense.
Just had to do the typical Daizex-overthinking here. :P
But yeah, the fight itself was well choreographed and looked awesome.

They were only equal in strength when Babidi was controlling Vegeta IIRC.

I like the episode where Goku goes back in the Time Room and meets the young Kame-Sen'nin and Tsuru-Sen'nin.
I wanted a mission, and for my sins, they gave me one.

Hmm... I dunno if you would consider it underrated filler, but the training Goku does up on the lookout with Mr. Popo and the dummy looking Goku. (I haven't been focusing on anything Dragon Ball or had the time to look up that part in the manga if it is there, so I dunno.)

I think Tom Dubois of "The Boondocks" said it best for me when FUNimation announced the release of the domestic Dragonbox, after buying all of the Season Sets: "MOTHERFUCK!!! SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT, PRICKS, SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIIIIIIIT!"

Space orphans was ok, also cause we got to see Bulma strut around in her underwear for 2 episodes. Too bad she was drawn all angular and triangularly. Very noticeble in Kai when we see Bulma go from jagged to more 'well-rounded' in the same episode.

You could argue that Kid Buu didn't take Goku seriously, probably not even when he went SSJ3.

Yet he took Vegeta seriously enough to completely trash him in the first minute. It doesn't add up.
And another thing, they (Goku and Vegeta) were equally strong, because you can't get your power unlocked and then it disappears just like that. Goku still kept his power when he died, so...

It does if you think Kid Buu wasn't fighting with all his power against ssj2 Goku, but decides to get down to it for real when Goku goes ssj3. You do if you're Majin'd. It's not like Vegeta turned Mystic.

Wow I'm watching the scene in which Gohan goes Super Saiyan and it is REALLY good. It takes up the better half of an episode so I think it fits in here.
