I gotta agree with jjgp on this one. While I certainly do believe that a lot of the attraction to the Z dub can be attributed to nostalgia, and I'm certainly not one defend the dub, must the opinion simply be that it's "nostalgia" every time and then shut off one's ears? Okay, sure. Maybe jjgp is totally misinterpreting his own motives, and he's just blinded by nostalgia. Certainly possible. But simply saying, "Nostalgia. Period. End," does nothing to further the discussion. And someone simply stating "Nostalgia" makes no more or less an effective argument than someone simply stating, "I like it." These are opinions. What annoys me is when people try to tout those opinions as facts.

Any other time I'd agree with the both of you. But not in this instance.

It's instantly recognizable that that's the true cause of it just by how people phrase their dislike for the new voice.

Rather than;
"I don't like the new voice, it's (insert criticism of new voice that isn't the equivalent of 'OMG IT MAKES ME WANNA DIE IT'S SO BAD'")

we get;

"WTF?! WHY DID THEY CHANGE GOHAN'S VOICE? STEPHANIE NADOLNY WAS THE SINGLE GREATEST GOHAN VOICE EVER!!1!"

So it's pretty easy to recognize someone uncomfortable with change, rather than an actual criticism of the Kai voice.

While I truthfully never would have preferred a replacement, I would've at least been accepting of it if I thought it was actually good (See: Fr­ieza in some cases, Captain Ginyu, Jeice, Zarbon) but if I think it sucks (see: Bulma, Gohan), then well....I think it sucks. Simple as that.

Some of the comments here are perfectly fine -- ohaimynameiserik's most recent post is an example of how to properly do it... it was just, unfortunately, followed by a prior post showcasing how not to do it. jjgp1112's stamping-of-feet tirade and "NO NO NO CURSE CURSE CURSE" is the last example you will ever see on this forum, because the next one will be deleted and followed with a permanent ban.

Seriously, guys. This is unacceptable and you know it. The goal of the community is to be authoritative, sure... but you can be authoritative, firm, and knowledgeable without being total jerks to each other. You look foolish to each other and everyone inside and outside the community with conversations like this.
