Me.
Nah I think a version by Sabat would be interesting. I'd hope for that next. Brina and Stephanie Young'll probably be the first to do it as far as girl singers go.

I actually liked Justin`s version wen he sing a bit rougher, like Vic does. I quite like the rougher versions of Dragon Soul.omegacwa wrote:Justin Cook's version (the one off Kai part 2) just has no enthusiasm. Sean's might not have been the best singing ever, but he sounded like he cared about the song and did his best. Justin's just seems like he went in the booth did one take and called it a day.

I'd say Brina Palencia. For those not familiar with her singing:

I'm still confused about the negative feedback Sean gets for that. I thought it was good and was really psyched to see the dub when I first heard it.

They hated it because of the autotune which I think is stupid because it made it sound cool. Rock on Sean Schemmel you're the best.TheBlackPaladin wrote:I'm still confused about the negative feedback Sean gets for that. Or maybe the real reason is he isn't a singer. Not really pleasant to the ears his singing.DB_Fan1991 wrote:They hated it because of the autotune which I think is stupid because it made it sound cool. Sean Schemmel commented on a video on YouTube saying he didn't use autotune when he sang the song, it was added later for musical effect in a couple of spots, not all of it.

You beat me to it, Piccolo Daimaoh. I think he's quite a good singer even without autotune. People also conveniently downplay the fact that autotune was used in the original Japanese performance as well.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:Yes he is.AgitoZ wrote: Or maybe the real reason is he isn't a singer.

I like how take my first comment seriously. I also like you conveniently ignore the second part of my post.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:Yes he is.AgitoZ wrote: Or maybe the real reason is he isn't a singer.

Maybe he ignores it because it's a subjective view? I love Sean Schemmel's singing. I'd buy an album if he put one out.
But as for next singer? I want Chris Sabat on either the third or fourth set. Maybe fourth to go with his Saiyan Blood. And, female singers? I second Brina Palencia. She's got a good singing voice.

Oh, you were being sarcastic. I thought you meant he wasn't an actual and was just asked to do Dragon Soul because he plays Gokū or something.AgitoZ wrote:I like how take my first comment seriously. This is actually a pretty cool idea. Some will do good and others will fail. But, it is just a theme song and they are having a bit of fun and it is a fun idea. I like this.

Love this idea. However, I'd like a full version of Vic Mignogna, since it has become so popular for the Nick Toons showing. If they're going to have another actor do it for every set, why not? My only concern is that they'd run out of actors. With 13 episodes a pop, they're going to have A LOT of releases. How many different versions will we hear before we say, "OH GOD another one!?"

Re: Who should sing the English version of "Dragon Soul" next?
My guess is that will only be our reaction if they keep releasing bad versions like the latest one (again, sorry Justin Cook). I did just think of someone else, though. I don't know that this is likely at all, given that he's outside of FUNimation's usual talent roster for geographic reasons, but there's one voice actor who I've always wanted to give a shot at singing an English-dubbed theme song. He has a band on iTunes for cryin' out loud, so chances are he can sing. What about Johnny Yong Bosch?TheGreatness25 wrote:Love this idea. Re: Who should sing the English version of "Dragon Soul" next?
I just thought of another possibility. I don't know how many of you grew up with "VR Troopers," but Brad Hawkins (the guy who played Ryan Steele), has sine moved back to Dallas and is now a common voice actor at FUNimation. The guy briefly tried a singing career...and it's sad that it didn't take off, because I think he's got quite the good voice. Great tenor voice, too, one well suited for "Dragon Soul." Here's a clip of him singing with his old band, Automatic.

Re: Who should sing the English version of "Dragon Soul" next?
It's much less obnoxious in the Japanese version, though. Contrary to popular belief, autotune isn't 100% automated; you still have to tweak all sorts of settings to get the best results. Some people deliberately set it so that the transition between notes sounds strange and robotic (often referred to as the T-Pain effect), while others simply try to smooth out the rough edges in a performance (such as Dragon Soul.) The Sean Schemmel version of Dragon Soul, however, was apparently produced by someone who couldn't quite get the right settings down, which results in some very strange-sounding bits.TheBlackPaladin wrote:You beat me to it, Piccolo Daimaoh. holy cow Johnny Young Bosch played Adam on mmpr season's 2 and 3 and zeo and a bit of turbo ftw, he would be great to sing dragon soul, as for girl singers they should have the lady who played Rini in the first apparence of sailor mini moon to sing dragon soul she singing in her Rini voice would make her sing like a cute a little girl also ftw.
