Re: The TV You watch Dragon Ball(Anime/anything on)
Am I the only one who PREFERS to watch the 4:3 signal stretched to 16:9? Yeah I know it's the incorrect ratio, but I'm sorry, the two giant black bars on the left and right bother me a lot. So much to the point where I absolutely cannot enjoy what I'm watching.
And I don't want to lose image either so I don't want to zoom in, I like to stretch the image. It looks a bit weird at first, but once you get used to it, I honestly don't notice anymore.
That being said, I watch it on my 50 inch LG HDTV. Kai looks amazing on it.

Every TV is different -- there are no settings that anyone can give you that globally carry across all TVs. Your best bet is to get some calibration patterns and such to tune up with. I'm sure Corey can pop in with more specific details
. I just had him take care of mine for me... I pay in beer.
RE: PILLAR BARS
Watching something stretched annoys me a bazillion times more than pillar bars which my eyes entirely focus out of existence, anyway.

Good God, I certainly hope so, but I sadly know for a fact that you're in no danger of being the only one who does.MetalMadness wrote:Am I the only one who PREFERS to watch the 4:3 signal stretched to 16:9?
Do you follow the most comprehensive and entertaining Dragon Ball analysis series on YouTube? If you do, you're smart and awesome and fairly attractive. If not, see what all the fuss is about without even having to leave Kanzenshuu:

Re: The TV You watch Dragon Ball(Anime/anything on)
The only time bars bother me is when I'm watching something that's letter boxed wide screen but is encoded in 4:3 so it shows up with bars on the top and sides. Luckily the zoom feature can take care of that but the quality takes a hit when I do, so there's no real winning in that situation.VegettoEX wrote:RE: PILLAR BARS

I have a humble 20" Magnavox television. It's stereo sound so I generally listen with the headphones on for the best effect.
In his spare time, when he isn't training or fighting (and when isn't he training or fighting), does Goku do Sudoku? Find out.... TODAY!!!

65' mitsubishi 1080p DLP w/ 5.1 system.
Dragonbox usually looks amazing on it but it is pretty overkill for a mono cartoon from the early 90s/late 80s

The black bars don't really bother me after a few minutes.... when the frame of the screen is black, the bars just seem like part of it after a little while. I'm just glad that I can easily switch between aspect ratios on my TV.

My computer screen. What can I say, I'd rather not watch DragonBall in the living room because I really don't want any comments from my sister and my father is usually watching TV anyway, I do have a little television in my room but I lack a DVD player.
So yeah.
So yeah.

Well to each his own!VegettoEX wrote:RE: PILLAR BARS

My eyes just can't get past the black pillars, but I mean if someone were to play Dragon Ball stretched for me and they didn't tell me it was stretched, I'd think that's the original aspect ratio.. guess my brain can't really percept the difference
Plus I just think it's a shame when you've got a huge TV and you only use about 60% of it

Got this baby around three weeks ago, and I thought this was the perfect time to show her off. I know it's not the best TV, but this was all I could afford. Who am I kidding? It fucking sucks.

I watch all of my stuff on my computer. I don't remember the last time I ever watched something on TV in my own house.

My computer, don't feel like posting a pic. The monitor is a 15 inch, LCD, Compaq (I think) Optiquest. my GPU is overclocked and HD so i get a bit better quality.
