What ever these games may be I'm excited as always, but I wonder could this mark the end of Sparking/RB?
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

Fingers crossed that this will be good, but not getting my hopes up.

Even if it's not great, at least it will be something different. All these tenkaichi/Raging blast rehashes are starting to wear on me.

If Ultimate Butōden is a remake of the old games, then it will freaking awesome. Not sure about Zenkai Battle Royale, though. Battle Royale, Dragon Ball-style....?Piccolo Daimao wrote:Fingers crossed that this will be good, but not getting my hopes up.

Re: Namdai trademarks "Ultimate Butouden"&"Zenkai Battle Royale"
Just wild mass guessing here, but Ultimate Butoden will likely be not a remake, but a follow-up to the previous four games. Zenkai Battle Royale will be like the recent DS Naruto and One Piece fighting games (Shinobi Rumble/whateverthefuckit'scalledinJapan and Gigant Battle, respectively), which in turn, are a wee bit like the Jump Stars games.
And speaking of which:

Honestly, I had a lot more fun with SuperSonic Warriors 2 than I did either of the Jump Stars titles. That's not to say I disliked them; I just liked SSW2 more.VegettoEX wrote:Well, technically we had Jump Super Stars and Jump Ultimate Stars in the meanwhile (and even if they're not DB-specific games, they were still light-years ahead of most of the DB-only games)... ^_~
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

I think Zenaki Battle Royale will be the next series of console based games and the first next or current gen game to feature three or more fighters in a battle at once.

If you think about it, the DBZ game series end with the 3rd game in the series for example:
Budokai 1-3 (2002 - 2004)
Sparking 1-3 (2005 - 2007)
Raging Blast 1-3 (2009 - 2011?)
If Zenaki Battle Royale will be the next series of console based games then it might be released next year or 2012. It seems like History will repeat itself over and over again

Re: Namdai trademarks "Ultimate Butouden"&"Zenkai Battle Royale"
There are just as many examples of games that were NOT trilogies as those that WERE (you're forgetting the Famicom games titled I, II, III, as well as the three Super Butoden games).
Can't say I know of any that have gone beyond that. Transformation was listed early on with a "LOG4" moniker (even in its URLs), but it certainly didn't turn out that way... and those were all American-made games, anyway...
I guess you could argue that Shin Butoden was like a "fourth" game in its series, but it was more of an update of Ultimate Battle 22 with a catchy, older name tagged onto it than a true sequel to those games... and there's Infinite World which was more of a "3.5"...
We've had plenty of duos, too, over the years (Bukuu... and Jump [X] Stars on the DS).

None of those games got any sequels. I can't believe that I forgot to add the Famicom games, as well as the three Super Butoden gamesmystic trunks wrote:What about Sagas, Burst Limit and Super DBZ?Hellspawn28 wrote:If you think about it, the DBZ game series end with the 3rd game in the series for example:

Just not a very valid one considering he's talking about game series rather than standalone games, especially Super DBZ which was a port from an arcade game.

You know, I've just been watching some videos of the Super Budouten games and they look remarkably similar to Ultimate Battle 22 (I think there are even some theme tunes that UB22 took from the Super Budouten games). Yet I hear people bash that game and praise the Super Budouten games. I haven't played the Budouten games before (of the old-school games, I've only played UB22 and Final Bout), but how come this game is apparently so much better than UB22?

Re: Namdai trademarks "Ultimate Butouden"&"Zenkai Battle Royale"
The controls were clunky, the sprites were dated(they literally ported over the old SNES sprites instead of making new ones for the PS1) and jagged, the backgrounds were bland and weak and overall the game was just sluggish. Also, for American audiences who didn't import the game, it was like eight years old. It was either UB22 or the first Budokai, I chose the first Budokai. The Budouten series looked great for it's time and was much more fast pasted. If Namco Bandai can pull that experience off on the PS3/360 I will be extremely happy.Piccolo Daimao wrote:You know, I've just been watching some videos of the Super Budouten games and they look remarkably similar to Ultimate Battle 22 (I think there are even some theme tunes that UB22 took from the Super Budouten games). The bolded part is not true, but I agree with everything else. The sprites in UB22 were all new as far as I know, but the proportions were pretty off.SparkyPantsMcGee wrote:The controls were clunky, the sprites were dated(they literally ported over the old SNES sprites instead of making new ones for the PS1) and jagged, the backgrounds were bland and weak and overall the game was just sluggish. I'm not sure I agree with that. Considering UB22 and Shin Butoden came out within months of each other, and the latter was a lot closer to the old Butoden games, it's more like the difference between the NES and MSX versions of the original Castlevania; same assets, different gameplay.VegettoEX wrote:I guess you could argue that Shin Butoden was like a "fourth" game in its series, but it was more of an update of Ultimate Battle 22 with a catchy, older name tagged onto it than a true sequel to those games...
