Yes, it sort of did.

When I became aware of the Orange Bricks, and found out their crappy qualites, I was sad and kind of forgot about DB for a while. I had been very in to it until 2007-ish, after I got the full manga. But DB was always in my subconscious, with the video games which I periodically played. And then, around last March, I was made aware of the Dragon Boxes, which I began buying in May. Then my friend told me how DBZ was on Nicktoons, calling it Kai. I went to see whst it was, and felt happy again. I became aware of the VIZBIGS later.

So, it was more of a perfect storm of releases and arings.

It reignited my interest, to be certain. I've long been a fan of the original Japanese versions of the show(s), but FUNimation's dub of DragonBall Kai is sufficient enough to introduce new people to the franchise--so far, with positive response; the English dub isn't my affection, per se, but there are those who love it.

To clearly state the answer to your question, Soul, watching Kai on television made me realize how much I love and prefer Z (Japanese only).

I wouldn't say that Kai is directly responsible for my renewed interest, but it's definitely been a major player. While I was bumming around the house post-wisdom teeth removal last fall, I started watching my old DBZ VHS collection (which mostly consists of Cell & Buu episodes). That sent me on a nostalgia kick, & shortly after I started binge-watching Kai, both in Japanese & on the CW. Because I got into DBZ later in its US broadcast, I didn't see many of the Saiyan/Namek arc episodes & didn't feel like investing the time/money to catch up via DVD because of them being so drawn out. In a sense Kai solved that problem, & once I started watching, I couldn't stop!

A slew of toys were released, so I'd say yes Kai definitely rekindled my interest.

I am enjoying the Z Kai dub a lot. For the first time in a Dragon Ball dub production, I can actually watch the edited TV version and not facepalm. I've been catching it on the Nicktoons site because my cable company doesn't carry the channel but that's okay with me. I've been buying the Blu-Ray sets to get the uncut dub and quality video source and it's still fun to watch the episodes again with the uncut script.

As far as rebooting my interest, I wouldn't say I ever lost significant interest in Dragon Ball. I still played Sparking Meteor/BT3 all the time when Kai came out and had been watching the Dragon Box sets as they were being released. In my opinion, the Dragon Boxes are the best release for the Japanese cast. All original voice actors, Kikuchi score, nearly-perfect video quality compared to any other release of the TV series. Kai is the best release for the dub, even if it has a different score. Kai's score is a little repetitive but it has some memorable themes and isn't bad in the way that Faulconer's was. Faulconer's music isn't bad in the sense that the music is fundamentally terrible or sloppily produced, it just changes the feel of the show too much for me. The Kai score has the feel of an epic and not trying to forcefully change the feel of the show. But the dub script is about as perfect as it could be given that they couldn't wholesale write the dub as a complete mirror of the original script. It's VERY close. Close enough to truly feel like a proper interpretation of Dragon Ball Z.

So for me, Kai rebooted my interested in watching DBZ dubbed and changed it from something I loathed watching to something that can hold a candle to the original and is actually enjoyable.

No, it has always been there. If something has kept it, it has been this site, community, and the podcasts.

Yes, Dragon Ball Z Kai definitely reignited my interest. Before I had watched my Season Sets, Dragon Ball Season 1 clear through Dragon Ball GT Season 2. While I enjoyed the show as much as I always did, I didn't think I would watch the show again for a very long time because there's just so much. The thing I like about DBZKai is its shorter length. It just makes it seem more "doable" if you will. I know there's going to be 100 episodes (maybe 150 if we get a Buu Saga), but that's still better than... what, 500? I won't get bored with it a quarter of the way through like I did when watching the entire original series.

I also love the new dub. I'm not embarassed anymore to get caught watching DBZKai by non-fans as I sort of was with DB/Z/GT. It's just refreshing to hear Vegeta say, "You damn miserable little bastards! Do you realize you just pissed away our only chance?!" Rather than, "Darn you little pipsqueaks!"

I enjoy the remastered animation. I'd like it more if we just got new animation and the new artwork for promotional pictures, commercials, and the opening & closing seems like one big tease, but I'll take what I can get and the remastered animation along with new special effects works just fine for me.

To be honest, Kai might have had the reverse affect on me. I used to love the Dragon Ball franchise because it brought me back to a place where life was simple and fun (when I was a kid) and it always gave me a nostalgic feeling. Dragon Ball Kai is not really the same, no same feeling. It's just something I've seen a million times before with "new" stuff attached to it. I don't know, I find it hard sitting through Kai, though I force myself to.

Did Kai reignite my interest in DB?...yes it did. I'm loving DBZ Kai because mainly because of the awesome job Funimation did with the dub (though the new VA for Gohan does kinda irritate me with her screaming) as it seems Funimation finally handled a DBZ show right

Also though a minor point I just find it so refreshing to hear actual swearing in the dub rather than the constant overuses of heck, darn and gosh in previous dubs
