Does it ever show that Yajirobe didn't train a whole lot at Kami's place? IMO, he trained just as hard as the others during this time, but slacked when he went back down to Earth. If he had continued with his training I see him on Yamcha's level, more or less.

I'm not really sure who is stronger than who.. But I know Yajirobe was the most useful between them. He practically assisted Goku defeat Piccolo and his goons. He saved everyone's asses by cutting off Vegeta's tail and withstood many hits from him. He's also the bean daddy! All I know is..Yajirobe is definitely the better fighter.

One major disadvantage Yajirobe has though is that he isn't shown to know anything about ki or ki control, unless I'm mistaken.

Yeah, he didn't. He can't fly, and never fired a blasts or so

But a lack of ki control doesn't mean a great deal when it comes to strength... Goten seemed to have very little, and he was a freaking Super Saiyan.

We do see him meditating in that one panel showing the Earthlings training at God's Palace, and he wore weighted clothing until the training with God ended. But he never wanted to fight the Saiyans in the first place, didn't go to fight the Saiyans like the others, never learned how to fly and we never even saw him fire off a ki blast. He didn't refine his skills like the others after God's training and just sat on his ass eating. And he was wrecked by a severely injured Vegeta.

All this strongly implies that he didn't train as hard as the others.

Well, Goten can fire off a ki blast like it's nothing and fire a Kamehameha (although he can't fully control it), which is much more than the heroes could do before.

Was he ever shown to do any ki blast or anything before Gohan trained him? I can't remember.

When Videl asks Gohan what ki is, Goten explains by shooting a ki blast.

Firing ki seems to come natural to saiyans. Without ever being taught anything, after 6 months on his own, Gohan was able to start a fire by shooting a ki attack

Yajirobe withstood angry blows from Vegeta. I think he would handle himself pretty well against Chaozu. Chaozu may fly and spam ki blasts at him, but once his ki drops and he's back on the ground, Yajirobe destroys him.

Angry blows from a severely injured Vegeta who'd exhausted his ki, and that last shockwave didn't even kill an even more severely injured Goku, injured Gohan and injured Kuririn.
