What if Vegeta was female?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

His name probably wouldn't be Trunks since Bulma's family has names that are puns on pants, so there would be a new pun. Is Yamucha's name a pun on anything?

Then Vegeta's daughter would be named Simdim.

The flaw in your idea of Goku marrying a hypothetical female Vegeta is that Goku was already married when the Saiyan arc began. Also, if female Vegeta had the same basic personality as Vegeta she'd hate Goku until the final story arc. It really wouldn't make sense for them to get married.

This thread is one of the reasons I hate the internet :?
Oh, you think the Grand Tour is your ally, you merely stepped into the Grand Tour. I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn’t see the Super until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but blinding!

I remember reading a fan fic which had a story of Vegeta being turned into a woman. So maybe it will give you a idea of what it would be like. I think it was called Be Careful What You Wish For. Or something like that.

Changing sex is a popular trope in every fandom.
What would female Vegeta change? For sure scene when we see him naked :P When it comes to plot nothing and everything, depending on other factors.

A female Vegeta, eh?

There's probably be a lot more "boys vs. girls" threads on Dragonball forums.

Goku would've dumped Chi Chi in a hearbeat for Vegeta the princess of all saiyans.

- They both love fighting.
- They share the same blood.
- They eat the same way.
- They'd spar all day long.
- Vegeta would still be obsessed over Goku's strenght which Goku likes very much.

^Then apparently we're not really discussing a female Vegeta. If this hypothetical character was actually Vegeta, she'd hate Goku's guts. I think you're forgetting what Vegeta was actually like in the series.

I think that Vegeta being female might have a pretty big influence on his personality, actually. We don't know for sure if there's any such thing as a queen or a princess in the Saiyan heirarchy (Well, unless it's stated in a guidebook or something); maybe there's nothing more than a king and a prince, a ruler and the boy that's supposed to grow up to become the ruler. Given the Saiyans' barbaric nature, I wouldn't be surprised if females were looked upon by males as not much more than prostitutes and thus given no important roles in society. Maybe Vegeta's lack of importance would change things somehow. Maybe Vegeta would have a brother that she was jealous of because King Vegeta valued him more due to being the prince, and so Girl Vegeta would snap one day and kill the entire Saiyan race before Freeza ever could.

... and yeah, I know that's just a bunch of random speculation with nothing backing it up. Hard to give this question any concrete answer, though. Image

I don't want to explain here the role of gender in tribal cultures, but in most of cultures seen as "barbaric" woman had a higher positions than in those that we consider more developed. Bad fantasy books aren't the reliable source of knowledge.

We see Saiyan woman in action and some of them enjoying their time with men. No symptoms of oppression you described. Considering all facts, she-Vegeta would remain a princess as long as she could beat any guy around.

Who says I'm relying on 'bad fantasy books'? I haven't read fantasy in years. I'm not relying on anything in particular at all, I'm just ignorant.

And I don't think we see anything like that outside of filler/anime-only stuff, so the details of the Saiyan culture actually are a blank slate. So I guess this means I can only look like an idiot on one count rather than two, yay.

Besides that, in the Bardock special and anime filler, I don't see any indication that women were oppressed or had a lesser role of men. I don't think Saiyans had the concept of love in their culture, and didn't have time to develop relationships and families. I believe Saiyans just had sex with sexually compatible races when they felt like it, even if they weren't Saiyans (we know that there were other races that looked like Saiyans and Earthlings and may've been sexually compatible with them too, such as members of Freeza's army, Recoom and Jheese). I think rape and stuff still happened between Saiyans, but not prostitution, as Saiyans were a warrior race and they all served as soldiers.

I think that, if Vegeta was female, she'd be the same as her male self. She'd end up with Yamcha, since someone would have to be the father of Trunks, who wouldn't be called Trunks (some tea pun or something?). After being dumped by a jealous and paranoid Bulma after she wrongly accused him of cheating on her, Yamcha would seek solace from Vegeta, seducing and having sex with him.

I think she'd still be training even when she was pregnant with Trunks, or perhaps she'd even abort the child because it'd be getting in the way of her training. I think Saiyan women would probably abort their own children because it would get in the way of fighting, but didn't because they had to breed children for the Saiyan empire.

She wouldn't get into a relationship with Goku or marry him because she would've hated Goku until the end of the Boo arc, and even if you work it so Vegeta's obsession and hate for Goku would actually be concealed love for him (which sounds really fanfic-y and un-Toriyama in itself), Goku would never leave a relationship and marriage that he didn't even understand himself to marry someone he didn't even love (I think Goku only ended up having some semblance of love for Chi-Chi on account of living with her).

Piccolo, why so brutal? Human pregnancy and labour is long and bloody comparing to other mammals. Shortening and making this part lighter would be perfectly OK. And even so we had examples of heroines taking part in battles being in late pregnancy and give birth on the battlefield.
Describing Saiyan pregnancy I had an idea that hiding that as long as it was possible was estimated as a good manner. The protagonist to horror or readers and assisting Ginyu Force preform caesarian section on herself. It was cold outside, so he used war prisoners as an incubators*. My beta wanted blood, so she got it:P

*Good patent from our past. Actually, medieval doctors used pigs, but where to find one on battlefield.
