Though I haven't picked up my copy of the dvd yet, I have to say that I will be interested since Mr. Sabat has come a long way with Piccolo. Especially during the 23 Tenkaichi Budokai. Though still I always have Mr. McNeil's line of "SPECIAL BEAM CANNON FIRE!" as just perfect. I wonder how Mr. Sabat's will be.

He doesn't just make faces, he looks like he's going to have a stroke and die, right there during the featurette... it's almost scary.Chuquita wrote:Did you mean that Sabat makes strange faces while doing his va-ing for Vegeta in the interview?
Schemmel on the other hand looks to have enjoyed that experience far too much, as he goes and insults Sabat with his Goku voice.

Were they all freaks? Were they talking about Dragonball, or just anime? What exactly were they talking about? Did some guy just walk up to them and ask "What do you think of DBZ?" or were they specific questions?Sun_Wukong wrote:That feature just scared me. Where in the world did they find those fans they interviewed? They seemed totaly clueless...
I'm really curious now...

Many actors when doing different characters, be it on stage, screen, or just voice change their body language and facial expressions when becoming that character. I know when I do my evil voice, the expression on my face changes. Also I just picked up the dvd today and though I haven't watched the third ep, or the Japanese version yet, I have to say it's all right, aside from their being lazy about cleaning up the footage. True there were some similarities to the 1996 version, but I did like how it's not so censored since they had the farmer die. Before when he was on the ground dead, the old dub added him saying "That smarts." With the music, the theme's no "Rock the Dragon" but it's ok. Though I know some people might think I'm strange for saying something good about Faulconer's music, but when Vegeta gets hit by the spirit bomb, I'm hoping that they start playing "Ginyu Transformation". (I finally learned the name of that song.)lost in thought wrote:He doesn't just make faces, he looks like he's going to have a stroke and die, right there during the featurette... it's almost scary.Chuquita wrote:Did you mean that Sabat makes strange faces while doing his va-ing for Vegeta in the interview?

I know, before my voice changed, I used to be able to do a decent impression of the original Vegeta voice [I forget who voiced him, from the Ocean Group, before Sabat,] and my facial expression would change in ways... but I don't think it every looked like I was about to have a stroke and die in the middle of saying whatever it was I was saying.Super Sonic wrote:Many actors when doing different characters, be it on stage, screen, or just voice change their body language and facial expressions when becoming that character.
Well, if by 'freaks' you mean that whenever asked who their favorite character was they said "Goku", or "Vegeta", and sighted filler as the reason for liking them, and never once mentioned the manga [and seemed completely oblivious to another form of the series outside the scope of the DragonBall Z, and GT anime, and some seemingly of DragonBall,] then yes they are freaks.Sun_Wukong wrote:That feature just scared me. If I am remembering right, a few of them even said they loved GT... Only in America, right?

No, it was a diverse array of people who all basicly said the same thing.DBW wrote:No, by 'freaks' I meant did they all look like this guy? <image clipped>
Ironicly, that guy looks like someone I used to know.
Thanks, I had forgotten... and when I made my impression reference, I was accessing memories of myself that took place in 1999, when I was 13.DBW wrote:And Brian Drummond was Vegeta

*looks at DBW's pic* Guh. Scarily, that looks like the guy who was on Fox News yesterday, talking about freedom of expression. My only thought was "What the hell is he trying to express?" and it still holds up.

All I'm dissapointed about is I wish Funi wouldve bothered putting some time into rewriting the dub. Not just using Ocean Group's script again. And mabey, just mabey, give us the Japanese score, instead of this syntheisized crap. It hurts me, it really does..
And if the Goku vs Vejiita fight is a let down i will be pissed. they're pretty much marketing the entire release around that fight. I my self have never seen it in its entirety.

I heard that hint of Yusuke as well, but that happens at times. During the first season of PPG, there are moments where Buttercup yells, you can hear a hint of Tommy.lost in thought wrote:I did hear a hint of Yusuke, but it was only on some random moments, but unless his actual voice is a far cry from anything Raditz/Yusuke related, I wouldn't be surprised if it was just kind of a natural tone of voice that makes him sound like Yusuke, doing another voice.Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:Justin Cook isn't a very good actor, because he NEVER CHANGES HIS FREAKIN' VOICE! ThunderPX wrote:Somehow, Goku sound exactly the same as in the old dub. O_O Raditz just plain sucks. I liked the old voice much better. While I preferred the new Piccolo voice mostly, I feel Scott McNeil did a better job in the early episodes for some reason. The music wasn't that great. It sounds like generic crap like what was used at first. If they'd used Faulconer, he'd probably have done something better (judging by the fact there's plenty of music that doesn't really suck)
^ Did I type that? O_o
