"Assault" was a special case, because the English episodes at the time were cut differently from the Japanese episodes, resulting in the first English episode on the disc being significantly longer than the corresponding Japanese episode.KiddoCabbusses wrote:Assuming I read you correctly;
If I recall correctly, before Angles were a common feature FUNimation's DVDs did a more complex video swapping technique such as this - "Captain Ginyu - Assault" is the most obvious example I can think of off the top of my head (Every episode had a separate video track for both the English episode and the Japanese one). I believe I recall the first "Bardock - The Father of Goku" DVD did something similar.

What?!! I also have first three orange bricks ( I know, I know. When I get an actual computer I'll import the DBoxes) and never knew about this. I always hated having the English titles with the narrator reading out the translated title...
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.
Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

Kinda strange, since changing to "Japanese Language with subtitles" on the DVD menu usually also sets the angles to change as well.DBZ Mick wrote:What?!! So I checked...
As far as I can tell my Region 4 Australian Bricks don't have them. Bloody Madman!

Re: A Quick Question About the "Orange Brick"
That's a shame. I'm not going to be so vain as to insult anyone who watches DBZ using the Orange Bricks as long as they are aware of the problems with the presentation. I would just hate to have someone think that the Orange Bricks were as good as it got. Hell, I owned the Orange Bricks before the Dragon Boxes came out. I didn't particularly like the presentation, but it was really the only way I could afford to purchase the series. I however am certain you will love the Dragon Boxes when you can get them.DBZ Mick wrote:So I checked...

Well, see, I found a way to desaturate the colours (although 'Season 2' still is a little too bright in some episodes) and I put the picture to 4:3 and it's a lot more bearable with my TV. The colours look lovely and the picture looks a lot more smoother in 4:3.
I really hoped blasted Madman would release the DBoxes here and waited until June last year. Then I had enough, wanting badly to see the Saiya-jin to Freeza arcs and got the three bricks. (I don't have a working computer at home otherwise I would have possibly got the DBoxes).

Re: A Quick Question About the "Orange Brick"
Not a bad idea. Unfortunately you're still losing about 50% of the picture.
Re: A Quick Question About the "Orange Brick"
Forgot to say it's also upscaled on our Blu-Ray player.
I don't know how much I'm missing anyway. I'm just happy watching the show uncut and in Japanese being a new fan of the Japanese original.Not a bad idea. Unfortunately you're still losing about 50% of the picture.

Re: A Quick Question About the "Orange Brick"
Oh I understand completely. Watching DBZ in the imperfect form as it is presented on the Orange Bricks is still better than not watching DBZ at all.
