Yeah, I'm not surprised.

Cool! I would've loved if this is how they made the coverart for the 13-episode sets.

It could just be Yamamoto parts 1 and 2 repackaged again... I'll need complete confirmation that the set has Kikuchi before I buy. I don't want 2 copies with the same soundtrack.

I just emailed Funimation about this so I may have that answer very soon.

I love this box art way more than the 13 Part Episode Sets. I think it looks better with the background and without the side bar.

Well, I, and I know many others included, won't buy this unless it has Yamamoto. If not, I'm just gonna buy the 13 episode sets.

Whereas I'm on the flip side in which I won't buy it unless it has Kikuchi.

Get the Walmart combo sets, that'd be your best bet.

Eh... kinda miss the sidebar design from the 13 episode sets. Still, the primarily white background matches with that one FUNi teaser for the series back when they first picked it up. I personally don't care for which BGM is used, as long as the dub stays intact. I know it's got some flaws, but it's a million times better than the Z dub.

Well, they're DVD only, and I would like to get them on Blu-Ray.

As someone who already owns all of the 13 episode sets, I'm going to wait it out until we find out what score this contains, if it's Kikuchi, it's a definite purchase for me.
Personally I found the majority of Yamamoto's score to be a little dull, though there were a few good pieces sprinkled throughout.

If it has Kikuchi, Ayres dubbing Freeza in the first episode, and the "solar flare" mix up corrected, then I might be interested, mostly just to see how the score was done these episodes. Still have no long term plans for picking up Kai, as it's incomplete.

I have a confirmation from Funimation that these sets will have the Kikuchi score. I emailed them about the situation last night and this is their reply.
I wrote:I have recently seen the Rightstuf listing for "Dragon Ball Z Kai Season 1" and I was wondering, will this set have the Dragon Ball Z score composed by Shunsuke Kikuchi that was recently placed in "Kai" Part 5, or will it have the musical score that was in "Kai" Parts 1-4 by Kenji Yamamoto. Knowing the answer to this question may help me decide if I should double dip for these sets.
Thank you.

I feel your pain, bro. And I thought I would only have to buy Kai during its first run without any problems. I guess I'll rebuy the repackaged Parts 1-4. *sigh*

GUESS IT'S GOOD I ONLY BOUGHT PART ONE NOW ISN'T IT LOL?
Thus, now it seems we likely know why they started releasing the box sets so soon. I'll wait for reports on the score placement before I decide whether or not I purchase.

W00T! So happy to hear that the Kikuchi score will be on these sets. I'll absolutely be re-buying the first 52 Episodes. Now I will have the voices I love, with good scripts, and the music I love through the Cell Era. Considering the Buu Era's scripts aren't too bad, I can now watch through the entire Z-Era in English with full enjoyment.
I admit that the Season 1 Art looks a lot better than the 13 Episode Sets. But I'm really irked that they simply reused the Goku art from Part 1. I was hoping for something new.

Well with that it looks like it's time to double-dip. I guess I'll throw it on pre-order when the Amazon listing pops up.
