A good ol' tail-grab + Makankosoppo from behind could've ended the fight without anyone dying or the Saiyans learning about the Dragon Balls, getting incentive to head down to earth (although they might have wanted to anyway just for finding out what happened to Raditz.).
I don't understand this one; they had no way of knowing that Raditz's scouter was crapping out on him, and they tried the plan you suggested; it didn't work because Goku was gullible and let go when Raditz said he would change, and from that point on he had his tail wrapped around his waist like a belt.

The one thing I've always wondered is, why didn't Piccolo just grab Gohan and get him out of the way of Nappa's blast? He was standing in front of him for like 10 seconds before he got hit.
That is a problem in the anime. Reading the manga we just interpret it as "Piccolo didn't have time to do anything else other than stepping in front of the blast".

I will admit that the way they played the scene the plan was more for dramatic irony. I'm just saying that if they went through with being stealthy, they could've damaged Radtiz a lot quicker. The thread didn't necessarily say that the characters -had- to know this was an alternative option. After all, most of the suggestions brought up were not even brought up in the series. This one in particular just stands out because it was brought up, discarded, and -then- we're shown hints that it might've worked if they stuck with it.
As for the tail-grab that didn't work, that scene seemed like it dragged on for a really long time (although perhaps, like the Piccolo-taking-Gohan's-hit, it was padded out for drama in the anime); I invision the sneak-up being Goku (all Metal-Gear-like) getting behind Raditz, grabbing the tail, and then a fully-charged Makankosoppo headshot at Raditz before so much as a word could be uttered.

When I was just getting into the series I always wished when Mr. Satan was being a pain in the ass at the Cell Game, one of the Z-Warriors would just pick up a mountain and smash it or something.
:P
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

Considering he was more of an annoyance rather than a problem there was really no need to.

I'm still confused why Kami could teleport Goku from other world to his lookout, but not to the battlefield.. :?

He can only teleport from the lookout to Enma's place and vice versa. If he could teleport anywhere he wanted in the living world and in the other world, he would essentially have a different version of Goku's teleportation.

Besides, if he could teleport anywhere he wanted, he could just pick up Goku at Kaio's planet.

The real question is why didn't Mr. Popo use his carpet to get Goku to the battlefield. That carpet apparently can teleport to where Mr. Popo wants to go on Earth.

Well, does it ever transport anyone besides him and Bulma? Maybe it only carries females. :P

Why did Gohan let Gotenks and Buu have their pointless not-rematch that led to Gotenks getting absorbed? Eagh, or rather, why didn't he say "Hm, ok..." and then as Buu is staring at the boys preparing to fuse, jump behind Buu, ram a fist in his back and blow him up from the inside?
On second thought, that would probably still have showered Gotenks in absorbing goo. But... you get my point, I hope?

I think in a story like Dragon Ball you're bound to end up with problems that could potentially have been solved much easier than what is shown. But due to it being an incredibly boring plot, if the characters were more logical in their thinking, they have to be somewhat stupid, so the plot can advance in a more exciting way. Though too much Plot Induced Stupidity is never good. But it's a children's comic, so maybe it's first after all is said and done that you really start thinking "wait a minute couldn't they just have done..?"
I really don't know, since I can't remember what it was like for me, when I first read DB.

As for topic, one particular moment I recall is when Krillin distracts second form Freeza by firing Kienzans at him then flees and when Freeza catches up he blinds him with the Taiyoken. Now even though I agree with the idea that Krillin's Kienzan cannot cut through anyone if there's a huge gap in power, in this case he was already succesfull in actually cutting Freeza with it, so why not try another one? He obviously tried to kill Freeza, when he was crushing Gohan's skull, but now he won't even give it a shot, even though he's in a much more favourable position? I just think it was an obvious PIS moment, so we don't have the fight ending too soon and Goku not turning Super Saiyan etc.
