How is the German releases compared to the Spanish ones? Because I've heard that Spain's GT boxes were like, [almost?] as good as the Dragon Box GT set; the Spanish dub was even a bonus, since it's pretty damn good from what I've heard.

It depends on who you ask. Timo here, who I'm sure will talk more about it, isn't too fond of the German dub or the German releases.

The Spanish dub...which one? The European Spanish dub is pretty damn bad. The acting's not that great, there's a ton of censorship, and it--like most of the European dubs--is based on the French dub. The Mexican Spanish dub, on the other hand, is probably the best dub that DBZ ever got.

I would say that the Japanese dub is probably the most accurate. The English dub (both original and Kai) have the best voice acting. The original English is extremely inaccurate, but the Kai dub is pretty accurate and the voice acting is great. I would say the Spanish dub incorporates the best of these worlds, but I would have to say that Kai is the best dub that DBZ ever got. This is all my opinion, of course.

Have you heard the the Mexican Spanish dub, or for that matter the original Z dub? It always had a pretty crappy script, but once we got to in-house Funi era the voice acting is pretty terrible. It doesn't get tolerable until probably Android-arc, even then the majority of actors were still pretty awful. By Boo-arc overall it's decent.

But Kai is probably the best English dub for DBZ related material, excluding perhaps the movies.

Wrong, the Spanish DBGT dub is not based on the French dub as the french dub was dubbed later than the Spanish dub.

Of course. I've heard the original (sorry to say dub) Japanese, English, Kai, German and the Mexican dub. Since I liked the English voice acting, I go with Kai. As for the original Japanese............ I'm sorry, I just can't stand Goku's voice actor. Again, all of that was my opinion. What version would you say is the best?

No, not at all. I actually don't like a majority of the Japanese voice actors except for maybe Vegeta's and Mr. Satan's. I really was open-minded when I watched the Japanese version, but in the end, it was disappointing. I know probably everyone on here considers this blasphemy, but hey............. I don't like it when the characters that I look up to (Goku, Kuririn, teen Gohan etc.) are voiced by women. They don't look like women to me, so why would they choose women to voice them?

P.S. Is there an auto corrector on this forum that makes you spell Kuririn right?

How in the world is that being sexist? All I'm saying is that the voices don't match the characters. Even if the voice actor was a man I still wouldn't be happy if his voice sounded like that. Imagine Bulma being voiced by Mr. Satan's voice actor. It just doesn't work. But............ back on topic. I think the German dub has pretty good voice actors. I'm not sure about the script though.

No, I am trying to say that the voices sound to much like women. If a women was voicing it and she sounded like a big buff guy (because that is clearly what Goku is) then I wouldn't care. The English dub has a women voicing gohan, but I don't really care because she actually sounds like a young boy ought to sound. I think that these things should come before performance, because I can't take the performance seriously when I can't even take the voicing seriously. But, again this is all my opinion, and again, I would like to stop talking about this because I don't want to get in trouble for going so far off topic.

Perhaps Spain based their dub on the French dub of DBZ because DBZ was longer and, therefore, it would be cheaper to make a second-hand dub. Perhaps a mere 64-episode series like GT was more financially feasible to dub directly from the Japanese source.

No, it was because it took forever before France got their fingers out of their asses before they finally dubbed the series, and it first got broadcasted in 1999 via satelitte, while DVD's didn't start to appear before April 2007! The first DVD was very interesting, because it contained Portugese, French, Japanese and Spanish tracks, however, this was discontinued for some unknown reason, and the series got re-releases from ground, with only a french dub, and has to this day not gotten a subbed release.

I think the reason why DBGT didn't get broadcasted before, was mostly because of "Club Dorothé" was not on TF1's program roster and since this is where they'd always been broadcasting Dragonball, they didn't really have anywhere to broadcast it on TV. It later got broadcasted on AB's paying channels, and I think it's still being broadcasted on paying channel, I know for a fact that DBGT's never been shown on a "free" channel, only paid cable.

It is also worth to note that DBGT had all of the voice actors from DBZ changed save Chibi Goku and Bulma... and with even worse dialogues. Another fact, while we're on DBGT; the polish dub of DBZ was from the french dub, but with DBGT, it was from the Japanese dub...
