That's not the Dragon Ball Goku, that's Sun Wukong, the monkey king. Goku is just the Japanese reading of the Chinese Wukong.

What's next? Son Goku displayed as some sort of monkey deity type of figure?

Oh...
Lovin' the Naruto reference!

But, yeah. The fact that people are actually believing in a religion based entirely on a fictional character that we know is made up, is pretty sad.

Some people may feel the same about Jeovah...
They may, but they'd be wrong. See, at the very least, Jehovah would accord respect for being the Creator of the Universe. Even the violent jerks like Ares held protection over cities and responded to mortal requests for aid.

Meanwhile, Goku watches a city get annihilated by his own hubris and responds with "D'oh well! Hey Gohan let's go fishin'! *never revives those people*"

But I don't think religion is ''Bad'' It just depends who's behind it. anytime some crazy christian person says or does something the news tears them apart. they never report the good things religious people do. but then again how many times do people love to hear good stories.
I was talking in general. In my opinion, religion is more bad than good precisely because it drives people crazy.

If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand? To men of science like us, perfection is a dead end, a condition of hopelessness. Always strive to be better than anything that came before you but not perfect! Scientist's agonize over the attempt to achieve perfection! That's the kind of creatures we are! But that's what Gokuism is. Unless I'm wrong, which I could be, Gokuism is only the Dragon Ball Goku.

In terms of people compulsively trying to prove something, maybe. But at least there aren't as many conflicts because of atheism.

But again, a lot of things can be told about Jeoah or Jesus.

Goku at least saved the Earth a few times, even if after some decades he was senile. But they don't have the obligation of reviving everyone, do they? I mean, there are diseases to cure among other more important things than people who died because of alien or artificial humans attacks.

Do they make any reference to which version of Goku they worship? The Japanese Goku or The Funimation version? or is it pretty much in general? Also why is there so many ''ism's'' in words today :P

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Some say they hear god's speech and then something unpleasant happens.

That would be hard to teleport to, since there's no ki and all.

Probably the only time I have seen such a religious debate on Daizex.

I think Gokuism sounds like something to do for fun rather than a serious religious belief.

Religion is no worse than atheism in terms of what's "bad" for people. I feel being an agnostic-protestant-Christian accomplishes things for the greater good. Buddhists like the Dalai Lama do not use religion as an excuse, but for what it is; spirituality and a better way at life; perhaps you could draw some parallels to the philosophical end of Gokuism, which doesn't even have to be a religion. If anything I'd love to believe it'd be more of a Taoism, just some basic principals you could learn (though the series is a better example... So Goku being the main guy here doesn't seem to suit it). Every religion that's "serious" and actually has some backbone should be respected, and therefore none of us should be bashing real faiths. If you don't agree with someone's religious point of view, that's fine, but don't go saying it's "bad" and cause harm, because it's just going to start an off topic flame war we don't need. Rocketman is no more trolling than anyone else in this thread.

Agreed :) But something I don't get is when people refuse to accept the fact that people believe differently
