So, they'll leave the word HELL on their shirts but still refer to it as HFIL? In the previous unedited DVDs, when the oni were shown again late in the series, they left the word untouched.Rocketman wrote:HFIL has to stay, because it's referred to as HFIL later on in the series.
Just as grainy
I was talking about the broadcast release, not the DVDs.tarsonis wrote:So, they'll leave the word HELL on their shirts but still refer to it as HFIL? Yeah, it's called "Hell" on the DVDs (at least on the episode 195 uncut VHS/DVD, episode 13 obviously hasn't been released yet).tarsonis wrote:Oh, nevermind then. On the DVDs, do they refer to it as hell, or something else?
Meh, I don't think keeping continuity in the dub is really such a big deal. If you think about it, the show is already pretty messed up in the continuity department, so I'd actually prefer that they just refer to it as "Hell" and forget about whatever they called it in episode 195 (as if anybody will really care/remember anyways).Rocketman wrote:HFIL has to stay, because it's referred to as HFIL later on in the series.
Honestly though, I'm more interested in how they're gonna handle episode 14.
This can't possibly end well...

C'mon guys, they left in Goku's DICK. I mean, do you think that they will censor a gun to the head? If they did, I would go on a killing spree to CN & then to FUNi.DBW wrote:Yeah, it's called "Hell" on the DVDs (at least on the episode 195 uncut VHS/DVD, episode 13 obviously hasn't been released yet).tarsonis wrote:Oh, nevermind then. Well, they left in Baby Goku's "space-pod", time will tell concerning the other end of Adult Goku. I have a feeling though, cartoon network and FUNi just might come through and leave these 67 eps completly untouched footage-wise, as in uncut and possibly even uncensored. After watching episode 2, I'm almost convinced, especially considering the're airing with a PG rating and just before shows like Futurama and Family Guy. And in case anyone isn't aware, PG is a promising rating considering the Ultimate Uncut dvds are getting it.

Considering how sensitive CN has been with guns in the past, and how detailed the Russian Roulette scene is, I'd say there's a strong chance that it might get censored. I'm not saying that it will be changed, I'm just curious to see what they do with this scene.
CN is advertising it as uncut... why would they censor something they are promising to be uncut?DBW wrote:Goku's dick is just a "U" shaped line.MajinVegeta25 wrote:C'mon guys, they left in Goku's DICK. Uncut isn't necessarily uncensored. Ever watch uncut movies on Spike TV...yeah, uncut my ass.
Besides, like I said, I'm just curious about what they're gonna do. Hopefully the whole thing will just stay intact, and they end up actually airing the whole 67 episode run uncut/uncensored. That would definately be a nice treat for CN viewers!

Movies played on Comedy Central under their "Secret Stash" time slot are uncut, even ones with lots of cursing like "Dogma" or "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" as well as comedy routines.DBW wrote:Uncut isn't necessarily uncensored. Ever watch uncut movies on Spike TV...yeah, uncut my ass.

But anyways, If anyone is a fan of the dub and can pick up differences between the DVD releases and on-air CN version and post 'em up, that'd be very interesting to read. I'm still hoping for all 67 to be completely untouched...

Well, as an owner of a copy of the first ultimate uncut dvd, all that has honestly been altered have been the cutting of both the eye-catchers and a fastening-up of the ending-credits. However those alterations aren't even slightly significant as they're from an extreme nit-picker's perspective. Nothing thus far, which back in even the early Ginyu/Freeza saga days (when censorship was very less strict than the latter Buu and GT arcs) would be removed or painted over, is all being left in. After these past 3 airings, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they leave it fully Uncut and even possibly Uncensored. Like what's been said before, now that these episodes are being aired uncut, the only reasons to get the dvds are for the Japanese version, which in itself will never be a 100% Uncut version like the Dragon Box editions, however they'll still have Mr. Simmons' subs. If Steve's translation work can convince someone to get the Dead Zone redub dvd simply for a possibly more accurate sub, then he must be the best and most respected translator out there.SonGokuGT wrote:Movies played on Comedy Central under their "Secret Stash" time slot are uncut, even ones with lots of cursing like "Dogma" or "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" as well as comedy routines.DBW wrote:Uncut isn't necessarily uncensored. They might leave it in or not. It can go either way. Though I think the thing is not so much the gun, but somebody commiting suicide. I know for awhile they showed Looney Tunes with suicide scenes cut out. Though when they were showing them on early morning Adult Swim a few months back, they put them back in.MajinVegeta25 wrote:C'mon guys, they left in Goku's DICK. Well let's see:Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:>_> How are the Dragon Boxes "more" uncut?
1) They use the correct Openings/Endings with the proper Kanji credits and 2) They include all the next-EP previews for each episode. If you didn't already know this, now you do. But FUNi is supposedly only allowed to show us what they recieve from Toei, and apparently Toei would send textless Openings/Endings and audioless next-EP previews just so their "Dragon Box's" can be the only 100% Uncut dvd material.

A reason I prefer Funi's is this: I hate nest episode previews! They always gave too uch away. That's why when the eps were new, I would change the channel as soon as the ep proper was over.Conan the SSJ wrote:Well let's see:Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:>_> How are the Dragon Boxes "more" uncut?

Heh, you must like it that FUNi hasn't dubbed any next-EP previews specificly for cartoon network, as they hadn't for any on the first dvd.Super Sonic wrote:[A reason I prefer Funi's is this: I hate nest episode previews! Even if the previews are there, you can always skip them with the push of a button so that's not a good reason to prefer the Funi DVDs to the Dragonbox ones.Super Sonic wrote:A reason I prefer Funi's is this: I hate nest episode previews! The Dragon Boxes have a "Story Mode" option, which automatically skips all the openings, closings and previews and just plays the actual episode content. And like Adnan said, you can always just use the skip forward button as well (the previews have their own chapter stop).Super Sonic wrote:A reason I prefer Funi's is this: I hate nest episode previews!

What I meant is why do guys make such a big deal over next ep previews when they are ones of eps that are on the same dvd? I understand having one for the ep that's on the next dvd, but why do people make such a big deal over whether or not there is a preview for the second ep on a dvd right after the first? Or is it just a nitpick for guys who must have every little thing?Adnan wrote:Even if the previews are there, you can always skip them with the push of a button so that's not a good reason to prefer the Funi DVDs to the Dragonbox ones.Super Sonic wrote:A reason I prefer Funi's is this: I hate nest episode previews! Well, for one thing, it has the characters talking about the next episode, which is pretty cool. And hell, for the human fact that we want what we can't have!Super Sonic wrote:What I meant is why do guys make such a big deal over next ep previews when they are ones of eps that are on the same dvd?
