Re: Anybody else wanted Travis Willingham as Cell?
You made the broad statement that I dislike Funimation. That suggests that I dislike Funimation as a whole, as a group, as if I had some problem with the company, or even dub studio portion. Which is incorrect, and is derived incorrectly simply out of my distaste for their English dub of DBZ. I have not provided any evidence you could derive the assumption I hate Funimation from. I have simply attacked their DBZ dub.
Inferring that I have distaste for Funimation merely from my opinions of the English dub of one single property is patently absurd, especially when I have praised their Kai dub on numerous occasions, right here in this very wing of this message board. And I'm a fan of several other of their dubs, including Baccano, Eden of the East, Summer Wars, Darker than Black, Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt, Casshern Sins, and others. To say that I have some sort of personal vendetta with Funimation as a whole is inaccurate. Just because I thought they dropped the ball with DBZ, doesn't mean I hate Funimation.
As far as your "new material" comment, which suggests that my opinions are some sort of "act" that I parade around, rather than my honest (and very often supported) thoughts and feelings, it's a tad insulting. Accuse me of being disruptive, off-topic, etc, but never accuse me of being disingenuous. If you think I'm being an asshole, it's no act.

Yeah...maybe so though, you DO bash the dub an awful lot, and it is hard for me to think of a post where you don't do it in some way. I mean, if I thought really hard, I probably could come up with something, and it could just be because I don't participate in enough sections of the forum to SEE most of what you post but...just from what I've seen, you really do bring it up a lot.
By the way, speaking of the dub, I emailed you once offering to show you scenes where I thought the writing and music was better in the dubbed version of a DBZ scene than in the Japanese version, but, I never saw a response...do you still wish to take me up on that?

OK, fine. You're often disruptive, unrelenting, off-topic, and act like an asshole, bringing up your hatred of FUNimation's English dub of the series whenever you get a chance. Whether it be in a thread about in which scenes people liked the Faulconer score better than the original Japanese (in which I recall you offered nothing in a patently unfunny statement of "Well, there's never. And never. And never."), or any thread on the English dub actors (for example, you could praise, say, Clinkenbeard's portrayal of Gohan in the Kai dub, but then follow it up by saying something like, "Still no Nozawa, though. Nozawa is unparalleled near-perfection, blah blah fucking blah.").penguintruth wrote:You made the broad statement that I dislike Funimation. Sorry if I mislabelled it as an act, but it does come across like that at times, and you do pretty much have a reputation as the biggest critic of the dub on this and other forums. And you can be pretty nitpicky or flat-out immature about your criticisms too. Like how you were saying FUNimation were being "immoral" by changing the soundtrack for their dub of DBZ. Raping a baby for kicks is immoral. Changing a score of an over 20-year-old action cartoon show for Japanese primary schoolboys is not immoral, and you sound like nothing more than a whiny borderline-troll fanboy with his panties in a bunch ranting on the internet who's doing a disservice to the word "immoral" by applying it to something like that.

You're right, I am the biggest critic of the dub. So? It should be criticized. And yes, changing the musical score is an immoral act, but no I would not put it on the level of child rape, and it's ridiculous to imply I would. The hyperbole was unnecessary.
And stop pretending to be a moderator. Nobody recruited you to take me down a peg.
One last thing, a "troll" is a person who doesn't really believe what they're posting, they post it merely to get a rise out of others. I believe what I say.
But as I've said my piece about Willingham's Cell, I'm just going to drop out of this discussion.

You clearly don't know what the fuck morals are, because if you did, you wouldn't be applying it to the changing of a musical score in a children's show. I don't like it any more than you do, but I wouldn't be so absorbed to call it "immoral". Annoying, unartistic, butchered, disgraceful; those would be far better words than the hilariously incorrect and juvenile usage of "immoral". Like I said, your statements just smack of obsessive fanboy whining. FUNimation were amateurs who did what they thought they had to do with a big and popular show that they didn't know how to handle at the time.penguintruth wrote:You're right, I am the biggest critic of the dub. I'm not mini-modding; I'm just telling you that you're overly repetitive and you should cut the crap if you're not going to add anything to a topic. Nobody recruited you to spout the same shit over and over.penguintruth wrote:And stop pretending to be a moderator. Nobody recruited you to take me down a peg.
I called you a "borderline-troll". You're not actually a troll, but you sound very much like one.penguintruth wrote:One last thing, a "troll" is a person who doesn't really believe what they're posting, they post it merely to get a rise out of others. I believe what I say.

Getting WAY too far off-track here, folks. This particular catalyst is getting old, too. Let's end it, please.
