Because the collection was a cash-in, and implementing online is too much work for that.

Older Capcom fighters had online mode when they were ported to current gen consoles if I'm not mistaken.
Because Capcom is the sole, amazing exception in that regard, to the point where folks are so used to it they don't understand how amazing it actually is.

Because, you know, they gave the Wii Virtual Console version of Street Fighter II for the Genesis online play, despite being the first Virtual Console game in 6 years to do so and that interest in the Wii had largely dried up across the globe by that point. That's insane.

Just being the sole top-tier Japanese developer to do regular Windows ports of their games that are actually good, a couple tragedies of outsourcing last generation notwithstanding.
