Great reasoning there. I forgot all about the Sokidan, I actually quite like that attack. It's somewhat unique like most of Yamucha's attacks, but they're completely wasted by him being sidelined.TheMightyOzaru wrote:Spirit Ball, because Yamcha sucks.
Which Ki attack do you dislike the most?

I guess I don't really dislike any, but maybe the Makankosappo because of how much the anime whored it out.

They whored it out? Wasn't it used only three or four times over the entire Z portion?Saiga wrote:I guess I don't really dislike any, but maybe the Makankosappo because of how much the anime whored it out.

Goku's Spaceship
Cell uses it against Picoclo
Cell uses it against Goku
Buu uses it against Gohan
Also, I think Piccolo used it against Vegeta inside Buu's body.

Off the top of my head... Piccolo, of course, used it twice against Raditz, used it against Tullece in DBZ movie 3, against Sauza in DBZ movie 5, and Cell used it against Piccolo in Ginger Town, and then again when he split into four against Goku at the Cell Games.Brodes wrote:They whored it out? So, it was indeed used a handful of times in the anime and movies, more than in the manga. It's entirely possible that I'm forgetting some, though.
Re: Which Ki attack do you dislike the most?
There's also:
Piccolo's clones using it against Piccolo
Cell using it against Gohan
Cell Jr using it against Gohan
Piccolo using it against Garlic Junior
Piccolo using it to deflect Bojack's ki blast
Piccolo using it in PTES and the remake
Piccolo using it in the JSAT special
Piccolo using it against Baby-Gohan in GT
Cell using it against Goku in GT
It's just used all over the place.

We clearly have different definitions of all over the place.

Well then what is your definition of "all over the place?"

I greatly dislike the Kamehameha because of how much the manga whored it out.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

I really loved it! The Sokidan is pretty much a flying punch!Brodes wrote:Great reasoning there. I forgot all about the Sokidan, I actually quite like that attack. What goes against it, though, is that the user stands still most of the time and is an easy target.
Although the Kamehameha is the signature move of Dragonball, I think that it is sometimes a dull attack due to it's overuse.

Probably that volley ball attack Gotenks used.
Also that weird light ring attack Turles used seems kind of pointless since the opponent can just jump through the hole.

Hmmmm.... The saiyan fake moon thing counts as a ki attack I think. I'll say that, just because the explanation behind it is so ridiculous.

More than 20 times over the course of the manga, anime filler, 13 movies, GT, video game footage and and an OVA, would be mine. Because that's a lot of footage right there, especially when it's also multiple characters using it. I mean on average that's seven times each for the three people that use, even if it's Piccolo 10 times, Cell 8 and Buu once that's... that's down right conservative with the amount of time/footage we're talking. It's no Kamaehameha or Kienzan in usage.Kid Buu wrote:Well then what is your definition of "all over the place?"
