Counting the Films, TV-Specials and OVAs all as one is just inconsistent and incorrect.

Crossovers may count as TV-Specials but I just went with DB-only content in this list, that I can remember. Dragon Ball Evolution could be under the 5th film of Dragon Ball, but just no.
Did I miss something?
Don't forget Dragon Ball Z Kai which it has 98 episodes in its first run.

Youre forgetting the manga, it has 519 chapters, 42 tankobon, 34 kanzenban, 7+3 Daizenshuus, 4 Chozenshus, 2 GT Perfect Files, and others as part of the manga line. I'm well assure that DBSD and DBH manga is in progress as is spinoffs.

No, you didn't miss anything. They're not really TV specials. They're more like educational films for young children that used the DragonBall characters. One deals with fire safety and the other is about traffic safety. They were only like 10 to 15 minutes long.

Also, to be technical, DBZ had four TV specials. Only two of them added more to the series, the other two were more like recaps of the series. You can read about that stuff in the movie guide on this very site!

Read above for the manga. I'm aware the other two didnt survive in the Dragon Box, but one was in the Trunks DVD in the early 2000s during the Burger King Promotion.

My inner geek says "yes" to a new series. But my heart says "no, we don't really need a new series." I do agree with those who say getting a new special or movie every year or two would be more than enough.

That said, even something as silly like a "DragonBall Heroes" TV series like Mike suggested would probably have me tuning in every week.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Yeah, this would be DB's magnum opus.

Oh, those things. :D

And here I was getting my hopes up that there were 2 mysterious DB TV specials that I haven't seen. :problem:

No.

Would I be okay with one? Absolutely. Although I think I'd be more interested in a re-interpretation rather than another straight manga adaptation. Dragon Ball is such an anything-goes universe with so many iconic ideas, I think there are lots of completely different stories to be told with them if anyone wants to in the future.

Not only do we not need a new DB series, we actually need to subtract from the number we have.

Only because that number includes two unnecessary anime rebrandings, an HD recut and the "SD" manga, which honest to God, I just remembered was a thing again.

I won't mind a new show. I think if they can get Toriyama to come work on a new show then I think it has a chance to be decent. GT sucked, but that was 17-16 years ago. I think Toei knows that people didn't like GT and they can do a show that will be a improvement. I think we will do a get a new show then it might take off where Battle of Gods left off or a show with a totally new cast of characters with the other characters like Goku being a supporting cast.

I don't really think we need a new Dragon Ball TV series, nor do I want one. A series of movies or OVAs following on from BoG or telling interesting "behind the scenes" stories to expand on the characters? Oh, yes, definitely.

This.

There's already so much Dragon Ball out there, I'd much rather see shorter, higher budget productions every now and then. It means everything in the world to me when we get a SJ Tour 2008 Special or a Battle of Gods.

If anything, we need a newly animated version of the original Dragon Ball (keep the old audio though, if possible). There's not nearly enough attention paid to where the series came from, why launch forward into new levels of absurdity? I have deep-rooted fears of more Broli happening anywhere ever again.

Do we need anything by love and food? No, but would I like it? Yes.
