Am I the only one who doesn't find Head Cha La that great?
Re: Am I the only one who doesn't find Head Cha La that grea
I've gotten used to it, but it is without a doubt my least favorite piece of DB music barring any dub replacement scores. The Cell arc should have used a new OP.
EDIT: Actually, y'know what, Dragon Soul is worse, if only because I was hoping Kai could give that portion of the series a really great OP and it's honestly not that much better. Kai - where don't you disappoint?

I'm kinda surprised at this thread. I like Head Cha La a lot actually. We're talking about THE Japanese DBZ theme song right?!

I agree with you here, haha. It's an inspiring, adventurous, early Dragon Ball song. I do agree it's been overused; but, I do like it. Although I will say I like the German instrumental better than the original Japanese one.cRookie_Monster wrote:I'm kinda surprised at this thread. I like Head Cha La a lot actually. Cha-La's a good song--but I don't much care for it as an opening. Both the song and the opening animation seem far too slow for Dragon Ball.

Oh, I like it! I just know how some may not like the song. I actually did not like the song before I began listening to the DaizEx Podcast, about three years ago!cRookie_Monster wrote:I'm kinda surprised at this thread. I like Head Cha La a lot actually. I definitely love the song, but to be honest, I'm a little tired of hearing it. Also, I prefer Hiroki Takahashi over Hironobu Kageyama.

But I really love Hiroki Takahashi in Power of a Dreamer for that video game Dragon Ball: Tenkaichi Dai Boken, might be one of my top 3 if not number 1 for an intro.

I love it. It has that youthful spirit of adventure to it. I take it as a song that reflects Gohan and the world he's come into, but also Goku as an adult still being childlike in many ways.
I have similar feelings about "Zenkai Powaa", which definitely comes from a Gohan perspective.
Compared to that, "Dragon Soul", while more appropriate for all periods of the show, seems a bit too modern and plain, especially in composition. And "Yeah! Break! Care! Break!" is just plain wrong for a DB show (though I still enjoy it somewhat on its own).

I'm not seeing the disparency.
Sometimes you get your neck broken in high-spirited, youthful adventures.

I enjoy it, but I always thought We Gotta Power was superior. It's just got that infectous, enthusiastic energy.
I was Thanos before the MCU existed!

I also prefer We Gotta Power and Dragon Soul over Cha La Head Cha La.

I just want to know why the dinosaur is trying to learn how to ride a ball. There are many more efficient means of transportation.
