Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

I think different shades of red could def work but I personally would not like different colorings per character because again that seem like GT. But if there was a cool reasoning behind the different colors that could work. So for those of you who want diff colors what would be your rationale?

"Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy." ~ Sir Winston Chruchill / Dragon Ball Z in a nutshell
How I enjoy the anime:
Spoiler:
I like to switch between the dub and the original. If I want to watch the original I'll watch it subbed on my Dragon Boxes.
If I want to watch it dubbed I'll watch the funimation singles and my dragon boxes for the other episodes in proper aspect ratio. Aside from the Vegeta arc I cannot stand the dub with the Japanese music, as it just does not mesh with the dub script and acting.
Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of the Kikuchi score and think it works perfectly with the Japanese cast...but the American audio in Z and Kai just sounds awful with it.
Kai is the only version of the dub I cannot watch whether it be Yamamoto's score or Kikuchii's ad hoc replacement. Until this forum I had not encountered a single person who preferred Kai to Z in terms of dub.
These pictures of SSG Vegeta are way too Mary Sue-ish. Remember folks, SSG is supposed to look extra thin and have big cutesy eyes. I'm not sure Vegeta will look all that badass in SSG form, regardless of his hair color.
Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. The victim of violent head trauma as an infant [...] he's a simple bumpkin with a fair share of brain damage who's natural talents to work out what's wrong compensate for his broad lack of common sense. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.
KentalSSJ6 wrote:Elyas11 did another SSJG Gohan image as well with white hair and yellowish orange eyes. Id say it looks good on him to be honest.
The eyes should be silver. Like how Goku has light red hair and dark red eyes.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!
Spoiler:
Doctor. wrote:I've explained before, I'll just paraphrase myself.
Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.

Goku doesn't always look cutesy:
I'm sure Vegeta's eyes would be big upon ascending to that form, but Vegeta's always angry sooooooooooo...

I'm starting to seriously wonder what Fusion SSJG colors would be. If we go with Red Goku and Blue Vegeta then Gogeta and Vegito would likely be purple.
What colors do you think Trunks and Goten would have? I'm with Gohan getting Green myself.
You think Brown would work? Theres always Pink too but...yeah...
Oh yes, the blue one looks really awesome. I don't think that magenta color suits Goku tough. Not going well with the clothes, if you know what I mean.
FighterZ, Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat: Funky_Strudel PS5: Dynamixx88
Trust me, I'm millenial and a designer.
I believe that it's the same for everyone, but I wouldn't say no to Vegeta with blue hair. But other than Goku & Vegeta, I don't want anyone else going Super Saiyan God.

I guess the hair color of God Gogeta & Vegetto would work like it worked for base Gotenks.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
I think color coded SSJG would actually be really cool.
The first SSJ form had different hair than the base hair, so everybody had a unique look regardless. However SSJG keeps the base hair, so different color would create a unique look for everybody.
That's why i didn't like SSJ3 as much, because it made everybody looks the same.
SSJ4 was also unique among fighters, which was good

As in..red hair with shades of blue on the side? Oh god no, anything but that. Id rather just have it all red or even purple than a red and blue mix.

Wasn't Fegetto's hair in Raging Blast Reddish Purple? I guess that could work

As I said a while ago in a different thread, if everyone gets their own color the show may as well be Saiyan Rangers and get a Shenron Megazord.
Different colored hair = power rangers? Seems legit.
