Thoughts on DBZ Movie 3
Re: Thoughts on DBZ Movie 3
Another movie that had interesting and cool henchmen, I really liked Kakao's appearance. I liked the plot regarding the shinseiju fruit and explains how Tullece and his gang became so strong. Other than that, there is nothing else that strikes me about the film, the ending was pretty cool with the Genki Dama destroying Tullece along with the tree.

Just kidding
So, Movie 3.
Well, this is my least favorite of the first 3 movies. Evil Goku was a cool idea though. And I really liked Tullece's henchmen, much moreso than Wheelo's or Slug's. I give this movie a C+; not so good story, but the fights were cool.

Re: Thoughts on DBZ Movie 3
The worst DBZ movie, IMO. No even fights. MAXIMUM Goku wank. Fodderization of the entire rest of the cast. Terrible animation colors. Et cetera. At least Turles and Cacao were kind of cool, if uninteresting.
Even the whole Evil Goku thing was terrible, mostly because the series itself already did that. It just wasn't stupid enough to make Goku's evil counterpart look exactly like him, with no explanation.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

OT: DBZ Movie 3 is awesome. I love the fight scenes, and just how the characters are. Also has a great soundtrack.

I think he was referring to Daniel Way's interpretation of the character rather than the voice actor.

Re: Thoughts on DBZ Movie 3
It does run a little long, but I enjoy it for the most part, including the look of the film. I love seeing the Z Team fight as a unit, but wish they had been treated better than fodder for the henchmen. However, Goku beating the crap out of the Tullece Corp was so badass, so I'm torn. Goku taking energy from the Tree was clever and I absolutely love the standoff at the end between Goku and Tullece. The music just makes that moment so amazing, then it's capped off with Tullece throwing a ki attack at Goku and Goku's Genkidama overwhelming Tullece in the most painful way. I know a lot of people seem to hate having the Genkidama being the thing that puts the villains away in the films, but I like it. It's supposed to be the most powerful attack ever, and it only works once in the series proper.
The biggest truths aren't original. The truth is ketchup. It's Jim Belushi. Its job isn't to blow our minds. It's to be within reach.

Yo Randomguy, where in the series was "Evil Goku" featured? Raditz, Vegeta, or Cell?

Re: Thoughts on DBZ Movie 3
I like that the whole Z senshi get a chance to fight even though they get beaten easily, the atmosphere is pretty great and Nozawa's Tullece is a fun character and nicely voiced.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Just another meh DBZ movie in my opinion. I really didn't care for anything going on in the movie and the movie had another forgettable villain.

Re: Thoughts on DBZ Movie 3
Never liked this movie! The villain is some Saiyan, who looks like Goku with no backstory, the movie drags so long, that i fell asleep almost each time I watched it. Only henchmen I remember and liked was Cacao, also ironically the most cool villain for me in this movie. It's great they got other characters to appear, reducing them to only do their signature attack, with Tenshinhan doing WTF Taiyoken!!! Great! After the scenes with signature attacks, i forgot what happened next and how the henchmen were defeated, only Tullece on trip around the tree to harras Gohan and make him Oozaru for no great reason and Goku being on frappé somewhere probably. Then I again have a blank memory only to remember Tullece eating fruit, that made no change to him and Goku making genkidama from the tree, because the tree sucked all the energy from land, water and made the reindeers dead. And that's it!
Also everything was so, sorry, fucking dark!
PS: just remembered that cool alternate opening sequence with Chala Head Chala collecting the Dragon Balls, wich is the only favorite thing next to Cacao for me...... only to ressurect god damn forest!!!!!!!!!
And this was movie made for some festival to introduce people to Dragon Ball (as I read somewhere) ???!!!!

I think you got the wrong song, they're talking about this one : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjDt5mLZ6dMCursed Lemon wrote:Funny, when I think of the "DUN DUN DUNNN" song, I always think of Broly's transformation.omegalucas wrote:Wait, the DUN DUN DUN song (the one I usually associate with the Genki Dama - M-1021) is originally from this movie?
Anyway, except for Goku vs Turles bit before the Gneki Dama bit, I always found this movie pretty boring, the fights with the other characters were pretty meh and everything before dat is dull. (I do love the music tho, specially the way it's used in the series)

Oh, I know! I just think that it's amusing that when someone says "DUN DUN DUN," that's what I think of, with is contrary to what most people probably think of first.Quebaz wrote: I think you got the wrong song, they're talking about this one : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjDt5mLZ6dM
