Super Saiyan as a child's plaything - Your thoughts

I personally dont care anymore and just accept it for what it is. I dont mind if all the Saiyans achieve Super Saiyan, but if they all suddently got 2 or 3 then yeah id would get ridiculous.

Say hello to Dragon Ball Heroes then.

I dont mind heroes because its for the majority, a bunch of what ifs. Also, I do find it interesting to see what they would look like. To sum up I dont care if everyone gets all the SSJ forms in the game as long as it stays out of the canon timeline.

I wouldent mind seeing Goten and Trunks reaching SSJ2 given their potential but Id like to see them work for it. As cool/funny Gotenks is I dont want him to be their only tactic, seeing them do stuff on their own would be cool.

We have SSJ3 GT Trunks and possibly a SSJ3 Goten coming up.

I already got my SSJ3 Trunks in Young Jijii's AF doujin along with SSJ2 Goten. I prefer them over heroes cause the doujin actually bothers to explain how they get the forms instead of just going "oh heres a SSJ3 GT Trunks you can play with". I know its Heroes and a arcade card game but SOME explanation would be nice.

Well, manga wise we don't know.

I prefer the TV special, but even then he didn't seem all that strong, and it again just seemed to happen because he was angry.

I'm glad the anime had Gohan transform in a suitable way. In the manga it was just Goku 'picture Freeza killing me' blam he's Super Saiyan. Based on that you would have thought he'd have become one during the Freeza arc when Piccolo almost was killed by Freeza three or so times.

What did I think of it? I thought it was funny. Dragon Ball isn't meant to be taken seriously. Whenever you find yourself forgetting this, remember that all of the characters are named after food items and underwear, and that Goku would have never learned his signature attack if he hadn't brought a pichi pichi girl to an old pervert.

Dragon Ball still has plenty of drama, and DBZ does shift tonally. Humor's great but since he went more serious later on, it feels like it undercuts the importance of that story point.

Yep, it was more like Evil Dead 2, whereas early Dragon Ball was closer to Army of Darkness.

It has serious moments, but Toriyama keeps the humor in there, like Yajirobe being the one to take down Vegeta in his great ape form, the Ginyu force, Mr Satan, Great Saiyaman, Goten and Trunks at the Tenkaichi Budokai, Gotenks, Buu, Vegetto... ect.

Sure, there's plenty of humor, but there's considerably less of it in comparison to the beginning. Vegetto isn't by his nature a humorous character , nor do I see Yajirobe taking down Vegeta as being played for laughs.

It was like two panels and it was just training, not an all out fight.

Yajoribe wasn't humor when he cut Great Ape Vegeta.............
Ginyu Force - Yes but their goofy-ness wasn't the main focus. Only Rikum goofy was his main focus.
MR satan - Yes
Great Saiyaman- Regular day for Humans
Goten and Trunks - To show their power and how weak humans are
Gotenks - A child
Boo - Wasn't humor really. Unless you mean Fatty Boo
Vegetto - HAD A good reason.

Yeah, there is a lot of serious stuff in there, like Goku's training to fight the Saiayans. Having to come up with puns and chase a monkey around, that's some serious business.

There's also Freeza murdering children, beating the living hell out of Vegeta and blowing up Goku's best friend in front of him. There's a lot of humor but I don't know how anyone could deny there was a tonal shift.

There's no way to know what their training was. It may have been a sparring contest or Trunks was throwing punches for an extended period of time like exhaustion training.

There is no way any Saiyan at there base is more powerful than a Saiyan, it's illogical.

Except if the Super Saiyan can transform without training, like Trunks. If base Gohan is 5.000.000, and base Trunks is 10.000, then base Gohan vs SS Trunks is 5.000.000 vs 500.000.
