Hikaru Hoshi, the artist of the Head Cha La doujin series, also drew some official artworks for Jumpland in the early 2000s.

Okay, maybe my head is just in the gutter, but what is going on between Goku and Raditz?

It is what you think.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I have collected most of them (I'm trying to complete the collection), what a wonderful art!
Probably I'll post scans someday in a new topic, fan-created works section. :)
It would be awesome to have some helping hand with editing the raw scans and translating them. I would make easily the typesetting, in that case.

I think it's kinda funny that Goku still calls it "grabbing your tail" at least if I'm reading the シッポ correctly.

I own two YAOI doujinshi circa Power Level 69. I didn't know they were Naho Ooshi herself. :o

But now looking back, the art style was unmistakable.

Who gets told it's his fault for being so careless? Goku.
Who has to live with that similar to how he wanted to make Freeza live with the fact he'd been beaten by what he considered trash, and have to live with that shame? Goku.
Freeza got the perfect revenge.

It would be awesome to even see it - I really love all DB fanmangas where the art style stays similar to the model. So I shall be waiting eagerly for any such scans :) Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the internet. Best and Worst place to be. People have their "preferences" and "fantasies", and some like to depict them for all to see, or get people under commission to do it for them. I'm not a fan of this, but it has an audience for it (holds back vomit), so who am I to knock it.

Don't like it, don't watch it. Who are you to call anyone perverted? And why especially the gay thing? Is gay porn somehow worse than normal porn in your eyes? Yeah, kids watch the show too, if they are watching porn, them maybe their parents should pay more attention to what they are doing. It's not the content creators fault. Some people like it, some people don't; no one forces you to watch anything.

Here here. It should not ever be the job of the media (both official and fan-made) to cater to the fact that kids exist and there is material not appropriate for them - it should be the jobs of their parents to do their best to make sure inappropriate content doesn't make it's way into their hands. I'm sure this is a much harder job than it sounds, especially nowadays with the internet being so prevalent, but...really, there are far worse things in every day life that a kid can experience than accidentally seeing animated characters doing the nasty anyway.

That and, let's not forget that Dragon Ball has a fair share of nudity (non-sexual nudity really, but nudity none-the-less) right at the start of it's run, so...it's not like it's a squeaky clean product to begin with.

Anyway, as for the topic at hand - that really does look like Ooishi's art (or do we know for a fact it is already?) if you ask me, especially when compared to her work on the JSAT special's manga adaptation. Honestly, say what you will about the story of Episode of Bardock, but just artwise, I feel like she's already come a long way since that special's manga. It's no Toriyama of course, but her work is decent enough IMO.

Thanks to 'Internet Archive Way Back Machine' (cached deleted pages viewer) I've got rescued some of Gichi/Ooishi Naho illustrations from her former site (most of them are unrecoverable though  ):

There are very little scans of her original work, which i want to see somewhere without buying the books themselves. I guess this is a pretty hopeless request, because viewing every scan in a manga book is illegal unless you pay real money (I guess...) but this is my situation: I'm too young to own a credit card, and i'm keeping my fandom a secret from everybody, so i can't ask anyone to buy it for me.
I guess i'll just wait a little until i'm 18, or just do something stupid to read them before that.

But if anyone has some scans, i'd be happy to see those!

(I'll be facepalming the next day after i make this thread, this is kind of risky I think.)

Hi Unicorn_Bazooka,
sorry for the delay, but I have all the entire collection right now. These are my scans for the first issue, I hope you're still interested in it.
And yes, being this a fan manga all the mods and users here know well that this isn't piracy.
Many thanks to Xeztin for hosting my scans on his website!
Now that I'm releasing these, could some mod move this topic to "Fan-Created Works" please? I didn't want to make two similar threads with these...

Are people not familiar with Doujinshi culture here? It is just glorified fanfiction in comic print form (which you invariably used to have to buy), and you find the same things in Doujinshi as you find in fanfiction -- one of which is sex, and usually yaoi. I can't say "yaoi" is more pervasive than "slash" in general, but at least for dragon ball it is far more common there than I've seen in dbz fanfiction here. Except Doujinshi used to be mostly found in stores (now there are more in pivix and stuff, but that wasn't a thing before), and in stores they tend to be clearly labeled if 18+ (and often in plastic so you can't just flip through them). I don't think kids in Japan will "accidentally" be buying this, quite honestly.

Some doujinshi circles to go on to make it pro, CLAMP is a well known example, too. Then again, fanfiction authors sometimes go on to be professional authors, too…

I think the joke is Goku genuinely believes that's his tail. Raditz's got a behemoth.
