I think I remember reading once that Japanese was close in similarity to Finnish or Norwegian, I can't remember which now. It definitely suprised me when I read it though.Adamant wrote:Norwegian and japanese doesn't sound THAT different, actually. It's not hard to make it sound decent.PsyLiam wrote:Unless you are saying it in a Japanese accent, I suppose.Adamant wrote: (Although my pronounciation of Vejita and Freezer are like the japanese original: Bejiita and Furiiza)

I don't remember a character's name being spelled "Kurrilian"... unless you perhaps mean "Kuririn."The Phantom Prophet wrote:i generally use the japense spellings kurrilian, Gokuu, but there a re few exceptions like freeza, which i think in japan is furiza, but i perfer spelling it with two "e" s

I write a lot of fanfiction, and sadly most people who read that stuff are dubbies so I tend to spell character names pretty much the way FUNimation made them... except I ALWAYS use "Mr. Satan" instead of "Hercule" and "Bra" instead of "Bulla." I used to have this thing where I'd pronouce character names as they were "spelt"... "Juuhatchigou" as opposed to #18, although that isn't the greatest example... But then I realized that a lot of names ("Torankusu") were sorta meant to be English words in the first place, so I stopped.
On the other hand, a lot of people I know use completly english dub names, but ALWAYS spell/pronouce "Bra" as "Bura," which I find weird. Not only is it not her name, but... I think it sounds pretty dumb, and it's waaay to close sounding to "Bulla" if you ask me.

You sing along to "Wind" Zacko? I love that song, but you must love it even more than me, since I don't sing along to it.Zackarotto wrote:It's very common for english to be spoken wrong... especially R and L. Whenever I sing along to the Naruto ending, I pronounce everything the way he does. Heh heh.

As for Kurrilian, I've never heard that one and quite frankly, I don't think it's even a genuine alternate spelling, and certainly not a Japanese one.

Oh yeah, Wind. That's it.

Hey. As a big enough lover of that song that I bought the soundtrack, I expect your re-creation to be accurate!
I just thought of another funny name thing with me. For some reason I tend to say "Burori" as much as "Brolly", which I know is a mouthful, but I don't know why, I just don't like the sound of "Brolly" as much. I know it's dumb, and that Brolly is probably more of an accurate spelling of the pun, I just don't like the sound of it as much.

To be fair, "Bra" said in an Engish/American accent would sound pretty dumb. Trunks I can overlook for some reason, Dr Briefs is fine, but "Bra"?
