Oy.
OK, but what exactly are
you adding with these comments?
I'm fully against having an original thread creator outline exactly what can and absolutely cannot be discussed within a thread so long as things are still somewhat tangentially related. Lots of people have lots of cool things to say, and I'd like to encourage them to do so.
Something I toss out pretty often is that while I personally find pretty much no joy in talking about these old dubs anymore, I think it's important to still be able to and actually take part in discussing them. There are people that think they harmed the franchise in a very tangible way, and I want to hear that. I also want to hear the opposite. Both sides have expressed those thoughts, and that's awesome.

Fair point, and I suppose I am coming off a little too antagonistic here. It just gets a little tiring to hear the same old 'Oh god this music DAMAGED the franchise' comments when really, I just don't see it. And I stand by what I said before - regardless of how different Dragon Ball is from 'hardcore' as some fans view it as, it's still a series with some pretty intense action sequences. Some fans were going to treat it as 'hardcore' even without this music - it was gonna happen either way. Heck, look at Star Wars. There are still fans for it that act like it's something that it's not really, and it doesn't have anything remotely like a rock soundtrack.
But again, I admit I'm coming off a little too combative here, all things considered.

FUNi used rock songs for a marketing tool.
I'll have to give them credit though, using "Change" by Deftones was a great choice for Goku's dramatic SS scene. The lyrics and tone of the song matched up with the scene greatly.

At least the movie didn't throw in a lot of 90's pop music like the Digimon did.
