Dragon Ball Z more violent than Dragon Ball?

I think Dragon Ball/Saiyan-arc Z is bloodier (especially one Piccolo and Goku starting losing limbs and gaining holes) and more brutal overall, but I'm almost surprised no one here has mentioned the mercilessness of Dodoria versus the Namekians. That and Videl vs. Spopovich are the hardest parts of the series to watch.

3] Commander Red is shot in the head
4] Tao Pai Pai's kills General Blue
5] Tao Pai Pai's kills an innocent tailor
6] Colonel Violent sacrifices two colleagues so just that she can escape death
7] Goku rips through Piccolo Daimao's stomach
8] Chichi decapitates a dinosaur
9] General Blue attempted to attract Obatchaman (not violent, but very creepy)

10] Tao Pai Pai slashes Tenshinhan's chest with a blade.
11] Piccolo blasts a hole in one side of Goku's chest, and elbows him right in the wound!!

Dunno 'bout you guys, but those things really hurt just thinking about them!!

Not to mention that Piccolo GROUND HIS FOOT INSIDE GOKU'S WOUND. Yikes.

Piccolo also ripped his arm straight off his body! Holy shit! Then later proceeds to beatdown Goku by breaking all his bones and grinding his foot in Goku's huge chest wound (a hole in his chest!!!). Yeah, Dodoria ripped that elder's neck in half! Jeez.

Goku kicks the face off Drum and Yajarobi cut the other demon in half and then ate him! If that is not violent I don't know what is!

Goku didnt really kick Drum's face off. He just kicked him so hard it knocked out one of Drum's eyes from it's socket.

Goku literally kicks him so hard that his head explodes.
It looks like bits of skull and brain are flying everywhere.
I don't think there is anything that gruesome in the 'z' part.
Also that scan above is all kinds of messed up.
