I know that. I'm not buying the original Dragon Ball until someone releases that option.
dbboxkaifan wrote:No, it includes 1x OP (v1) and 1x ED (v2) just like the later remastered Blue Bricks do.
It really astounds me that these distributors could be so incompetent that they can't even bother to ask Japan to send over something so basic.

I'd say the blue bricks are the way to go then cause they're cheaper and easily available here :) Sometimes Amazon or RightStuf has some awesome sales regarding them too

FUNimation was given the bare essentials by Toei Animation of Dragon Ball and for featuring Japanese episode cards I'm not completely dissatisfied although it'd have been a lot better with the NEPs included too.

They're certainly cheaper than the other releases from AU/UK but Madman's 2-boxset collection is the most convenient as the entire series comes in 2-boxset collection.

As for the Saga Sets.. it'd take collecting all 11 parts compared to the Collection Parts (2) or Seasons (5) which are a lot smaller in comparison.

I don't think anyone has mentioned this so far so I'll just say that the Blue Bricks are Region 1 only so a multi-region DVD player is essential for them.

I'm pretty sure VLC acts as multi-region DVD player, even if it can't I have AnyDVD, and I can then hook my laptop to my TV via the VGA cable.

I've used two laptops which had region locked DVD burners on them (R2) so if I wanted to watch the content of that DVD I'd always need to change the region through the setting, and it's allowed up to five times only. It's so outdated to be using region locking still on laptops.

This means that neither VLC, AnyDVD or any other app worked due to as long as it's locked it wouldn't recognise it.

VLC will play DVDs of any region no matter what your computer's DVD drive is set to. I do it all the time.

The blue bricks are seriously R1 only though? I'm pretty sure both the orange and green bricks are 1/2/4...

Actually, it all depends on your drive's firmware - RPC-1 or RPC-2. If it's the former then VLC will ignore any region lock and play it regardless. For the latter, it won't do the same as the lock is enforced by the drive itself. It's very easy to get around. It's why programs such as AnyDVD exist!

Yeah looking up for a firmware hack is the way to go for these region locked DVD players, I tried looking up for the two laptops which I used but neither of the two brought up any useful methods and to be honest, with portable DVD readers/burners for £10 it's not worth the trouble.

Yeah the Blue Bricks are Region 1/4 only even though the Orange and Yellow Bricks were 1/2/4. Supposedly it's because Toei didn't want Japanese fans importing Funimation's release as a cheaper alternative to their own.
