Why do people hate Buu arc Gohan?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

True. But in the short time he fought first form Bebi he got curbed stomped. Majoob was fighting the third form of Bebi.

Keep in mind Uub was merged with Majin Buu. Which essentially meant he was on Super Buu levels of strength. And I'm pretty sure Super Buu could take on a Super Saiyan 3. Maybe not in a winning effort, but certainly he could trade blows with one. Goku was getting drained in his child body because he was fighting just to maintain the energy (similar to how he couldn't keep it up for long with Kid Buu, only a lot worse).

I think it tends to be the fans who like DB for the screaming muscley men throwing fireballs at each other that don't like Gohan when he's older. He was 'cool' when he was younger and had that whole broody thing going on because he didn't wangt to fight, but I guess people don't appreciate how much of a dork he grows up to become? I love it to be honest, it makes him more of a unique character. He has the whole scholarly, geek, superhero vibe going on. When you take all that away who is he? Just a more serious version of Goku.

His fucking haircut.

Some guys can rock short hair. Gohan can't.

People hate how Gohan was used.
Pretty much this.
Gohan was pretty much given too much screen time than he was capable of using, and failed to show any use to the other characters despite being hyped up so heavily and has shown no real growth in his character but sheer incompetence. Its not even the idea that hes wasted potential, but more so a very inconsistent character.

If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

Oob was at least Kid Boo levels or more likely stronger before fusing, and seeing as how he put up a pretty good fight against Super Bebi 2 unlike Goku, I think he was above SSJ3 Goku. Even with Goku's energy drain he still never seemed to cause any trouble to Bebi, nor Super Bebi 2. Majoob did more.

Also only a fused SSJ3 gave Super Boo trouble. Super Boo woulda curb stomped SSJ3 Goku if they fought in the Boo saga.

For a very long time, I hated him because he slacked off after Cell, then got ~*free power*~ to boost him ahead of everybody who hadn't been sitting around eating fritos for seven years (prompted everybody to go "ooooh he's the true hero and successor~!"). And then he fucked it up anyway after all the timewasting buildup.

I've cooled off a lot lately though, since the modern go-to for DB is MORE FREE POWER FOR ~*~*~*~*~*~*GOKUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU*~*~*~*~*~*~
