I never noticed that Toriyama gave population numbers for the Shin-jin. Damn, powerful races in Dragon Ball tend to be very few in number, don't they?
Freeza-clan: 4 that we know of... there's probably a few more, but not many. They're probably just that family, going by Toriyama.
Saiyans: 3,000-6,000, i.e. "a few thousand" (pre-Freeza's bad mood)
Nameks: 110
Shin-jin: 80
Then there are 6,000,000,000 Earthlings according to Neko Majin. Hah.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure West Kaioshin's bio in D7 says she's "the one Kaioshin that appears female"... or something like that.
The question is: if Kaioshin don't have gender, why does "she" have breasts?

Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

After having Toriyama saying that thee are only 3 Kaioshins, who work in shifts, maybe the female-like Kaioshin is erased. Is she in the manga too?RandomGuy96 wrote:I never noticed that Toriyama gave population numbers for the Shin-jin. Damn, powerful races in Dragon Ball tend to be very few in number, don't they?

D7 says that she is "the only Kaioshin that is a female". It's C4 that changes it into "the only Kaioshin who appears female".RandomGuy96 wrote:Anyway, I'm pretty sure West Kaioshin's bio in D7 says she's "the one Kaioshin that appears female"... or something like that.

Spoiler:
In all seriousness, it seems that the Shin-jin look like males or females, but don't have genitals to reproduce. (Except Rou Kaioshin

Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Re: Whis' gender?
Kinda. The West Kaioshin is mentioned to exist in the manga, but we don't see what West Kaioshin looks like. Toriyama's comments mean nothing to me at this point; they contradict the manga, and even he admitted he was basically just throwing shit out there, and that some of it was probably gonna be wrong.Low Tone G wrote:After having Toriyama saying that thee are only 3 Kaioshins, who work in shifts, maybe the female-like Kaioshin is erased. Being "neither male or female" and hatching from a fruit rather than reproducing sexually doesn't necessarily mean you can't be a perv... just that you can't really act on that perviness in the same way a human can (beyond things like groping and such, I guess), assuming that Shinjin have no genitals whatsoever.Jokes aside, if they were truly asexual or sexless why was he such a pervert?
He was reading some ecchi magazine and even accepted gokus bribe (bulma)
Plus, he's fused with that witch, and maybe *she* was a perv.
