They said that it was simply because no TV channel had asked them to dub it.

Cartoon Network, Boing, Neox, Clan, Canal Panda or Animax (got shut down in 2013) none of these asked them? Dammit, what a shame I'd have liked to watch Kai dubbed in Castellano.
I guess the popularity of Dragon Ball has really decreased a lot.

Yeah, Arait Multimedia are notorious for never releasing the series they license onto home video, ever. Though, their dubs are usually really accurate and well done.

Exactly. The few times in which a series dubbed by them has been released in DVD, it was because another company held the rights to the series.
Regarding TV channels, let's see:
I don't think any channel would be interested in airing DB again. It's still very popular in here, but people watch it by... let's say "other means", right?
While writing about our Canal Panda and Boing, I must say that I envy the Portuguese Panda Biggs and the Italian Boing. I got to see both, and their programming is like 1,000 times better.

Spanish Boing airs dual-audio Doraemon though, unlike the Italian Boing which only airs it dubbed. Since Japan never got a DVD release of Doraemon beyond the movies and the first 300 shorts, it's actually pretty rare.

Re: Battle of Gods getting released on DVD/BD in Spain
Personally, I would sacrifice the Japanese track in Doraemon for a better programming
Since it's targeted to children, I doubt many people will change the audio track. The same thing happens with Shin Chan: a couple of friends and I changed it to Japanese once and we didn't know if we should laugh or cry when we heard Shin's voice.
However, I think that this will only happen with newer episodes (mainly these from the 2005 remake). The older ones were aired at a time in which it wasn't possible to change audio tracks, so the master only includes the dubbed track. The same thing happened with DBZ when it was on TV: if you changed the audio track with the remote, it'd still be Spanish. Companies only started giving dual audio to TV channels a couple of years ago: that's why you can change the language in the new The Simpsons seasons, but not in the older ones.

I know for a fact that at least some episodes from the older series had the Japanese audio track on Boing; I specifically asked a guy I know living in Spain to check. If I had that channel, I'd try to record as much of it as I could just to make sure those episodes don't get lost to time.

Yep, after of analising DVD, my note is: 8.0.
I had detect issues in subtitles, but not smaller. I hope that on consumer version it is fixed. The translation of "Song of Hope" and "Cha-la Head Cha-la" is the same used for japanese version, and is not correct like all us already know, for international version. I think that for this reason the lyrics in english were omitted.
Too, I have seen some latin-american expression, but nothing of interest.
Video, nothing what to say, very correct (not ghosting).
Audio, excellent. Definitely, is best of DVD.
I wait Bluray edition with big interest for buying it. ^^
PD.: I recognize that in this time, Selecta has surprised me for better.

Could you just give some examples of those Latin American expressions you're talking about? If they're really Latin American, it's one of the few things that I hate to see in a DVD (mainly because one of the possible reasons could be taking foreign subtitles or even fansubs as a base for the translation instead of just hiring a professional translator to do it
)
Also, allow me to give you a small piece of advice:

Re: Battle of Gods getting released on DVD/BD in Spain
The contents of the Collectors' Edition have been announced:
We also know the prices: €14.99 for the DVD version, €17.99 for DVD+BD, and €29.99 for the Collectors' Edition (all of them are the theatrical version, by the way).
It's curious that the covers have the kanji removed, even though it was present in all posters when the movie was shown in theatres.

EDIT: I wanted to show this photo I just came across.
The documentary about the dubbing makes me want the Collectors' Edition. The collector's edition of Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods, apart from the movie in both DVD and BD, will contain a DVD disc with extras and an exclusive book, all in a digipack. Among the extra material, there will be a Making of documentary of the dubbing into Spanish, Catalan and Basque, footage from the premiere in Barcelona, Madrid and the [Barcelona] Comic Con, and movie trailers and promos, among others.

Re: Battle of Gods getting released on DVD/BD in Spain
The packaging looks pretty nice (reminds me of the Japanese LE) and tempting of owning, also it deserves to be called Collector's Edition for that matter but they're too missing the interviews with the original Japanese cast even though they feature for the Spanish dubs.
The DVD in this regard is kinda pointless since no one's going to watch as they've already got a Blu-ray Player and there's nothing exclusive to the DVD (aside from the 2nd DVD that features the extras).
By the way, what's the booklet about?
30€ is a bit of a stretch so I'll take my chances and if it goes out of print there's always the standard Blu-ray release.

Re: Battle of Gods getting released on DVD/BD in Spain
I have no idea what the booklet will be about, but I expect it to contain a brief recap of the history of the series, character profiles... things like these.
About the interviews with the Japanese cast, I find it unlikely, but not impossible. The announcement doesn't list all the extras, since it ends with "among others". It's possible that it refers to "trailers and promos from BoG, among other movies which we will release" but then the wording would be a bit strange, so I think that there are more extras they haven't said anything about yet. Maybe the interviews are a surprise?
I'm taking the booklet in the Blu-Ray edition of AKIRA (also by Selecta Visión) as a basis. They include an interview with Katsuhiro Otomo, and a footnote says "the text has been taken from the interview the author gave when AKIRA's special edition was released on DVD in 2001". If they didn't include the Japanese interviews in the DVD to have space to put the dub documentary, they may add the transcripts in the booklet. It's a possibility after all.
Regarding the DVD+BD combo editions: I don't know about other countries, but many movies are sold in combo editions in Spain. It's pointless, unless you have both a DVD and a BD player in different TVs, and one of them is in use (which is my case), or if you want to watch the movie in a PC (mine's a bit old, and it accepts DVDs, but not BDs).
