Re: Language Survey 2014
Kai/Post-Kai era in English, Japanese for the other series (DB/Z/GT). Also occasionally check out other dubs.
Re: Language Survey 2014
Primarily though? I'm only taking one answer. It should be the one your mind jumps to if you suddenly decide to sit down and watch the show.SSJ4 Furanki wrote:Kai/Post-Kai era in English, Japanese for the other series (DB/Z/GT). Also occasionally check out other dubs.

Re: Language Survey 2014
Mainly juggle between English and Japanese. But, I tend to watch Kai more than the other series. So, I suppose you can put me down for English.

Re: Language Survey 2014
Original Japanese version but I will say Mr. Satan is funnier in the English dub.
Re: Language Survey 2014
English (FUNi Kai)
Re: Language Survey 2014
Japanese for me. But before that, it was a mix of Jap, Cantonese and Catalan.

Re: Language Survey 2014
I usually watch the original series and movies in Japanese, but I watch Kai in English more than any of them so for me it's the Kai Funi dub.

English for me. I've tried watching the Japanese, but could never get into it.

Re: Language Survey 2014
Japanese. I almost always go for the original version of a series if at all possible. Especially when the dub is so drastically different from the original. (I did like FUNi's Battle of Gods dub for the most part though.)
Re: Language Survey 2014
Currently, it's Japanese Z, with Funi Kai in a close second. That might change, however, when Buu Kai comes out over here.

You obviously have four ticks for Japanese that you can put down.

Subtitled Japanese version wins by a hair over the Funimation Kai version.
Spoiler:
Re: Language Survey 2014
It was the German dub for me until 5 (?) years ago. Now Japanese is definitely the main language I watch Dragon Ball in.

Kai Funimation dub (English)

Re: Language Survey 2014
FuNi Eng Z primarily
Jap + Sub otherwise
99% of anime I watch is in Jap + Sub so I automatically did the same for Z. But oh man, when I heard Goku for first time it turned me away so bad I paused to check if the audio was in sync. I heard plenty of kids at ~12 who had deeper voice than Goku.... so I turned to dub where his voice was somewhat more fitting. They even managed to match screams better than the original Jap when powering up. I mean come on, when Goku opens his mouth wide you would assume he'll be yelling but nope, only rubber ducky squeaks.
When I finished the series and rewatched some episodes as well as OVA in Jap + Sub, I realized that it wasn't so bad. In fact, it was Goku's little childish voice that attracted me contrary to my first reaction. My lack of understanding of characters made me judge too quickly. Now I watch both series in both languages depending what is available. I couldn't really decide which one was the primary language I watch as they are around 50/50 but since I first finished the series in FuNi Eng that gave a little edge so I chose that over the other

Re: Language Survey 2014
I didn't realize we were taking Kai into account. I haven't seen Kai yet, though, since I'm still watching the 508 episode run for the first time in English. I would most likely consider Kai to be seperate, and by no means a "definitive version" due to the lack of pre-Raditz material.

Re: Language Survey 2014
Japanese audio all the way!

I'm guessing 508 episodes are Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and GT all together? I never noticed how lengthy the series actually is since the 3 series are split up.Valerius Dover wrote: I'm still watching the 508 episode run for the first time in English.
